Lumpy, is it common for axle housings to get bent? How does it happen? Collisions?

 

Most every axle housing I have ever narrowed is bent to some degree. Most car rear ends are fairly close , The Impala 12 bolt I just did for the Tempest was spot on. Pickup rear ends are almost always bent from being heavily overloaded and driven over rough roads.

 

If one had a bunch of different mounts welded on it that can throw one off.

I picked up a members 1937 humpback for sale a while back. Unfortunately, life got in the way. I was finally able to start tearing it down to assess where I need to start.

 

Yeah, I think we all do! Lol

 

Today, I finished my fuel system. Real high tech setup. After that, I installed the adapters I made to connect the 1969 C-10 E-Brake cables to the 1950 3100 bell crank. The E-Brake now works as well as the stock system did.

 

Repositioned the crossmember on this 32 chassis, the previous builder tacked it in at a wierd angle. Had to build a spreader first to go around the giant quick change. Then I conned my pal Butch into installing the spiro locks on the Pontiac pistons because my thumb is still melted.

 

A long hiatus with not a lot of work to show due to retirement, family, travel and waiting for others to finish various odd jobs that will allow me to progress. It's been languishing for far too long! However Wheelsmith was tasked with making some steel wheels, it also modified my NOS hubcaps to fit. Wheels were powder coated in OEM amber colour to match the OEM 1946 2-tone colour scheme.
DynaMat was installed throughout the body; roof, floor, doors, trunk, firewall etc. I also had the OEM frame stencil reproduced (Production date); refurbished the gas tank after modification and sealed it with Red Kote. An Ozzie product actually made in USA and superior to other gas tank liners on the market!
I finally installed all new window fuzzies, flat side glass (Fabricated all new window rollers) and installed my NOS vent shades. Next was fitting my NOS Hydramatic trunk emblem and '8', upgrading from a 76 model to a 78 model.
The restored dashboard, hydro-dipped in OEM wood-grain finish to match garnish molds, was next.
I was able to locate the OEM style bitumenised cardboard that was installed on the inside of trunk lid.

Since I have a few days off it seemed like a good time to pull my roadster out of mothballs and finally start putting the quick change in it...Gordie quickly laid claim to the 9 inch

 

Lumpy, You are lucky to live somewhere with warm weather. I have 4 days off and it’s supposed to be colder than a well digger’s ass here this weekend. I was hoping for 4 days of blissful work on Papaw. Sigh!

 

Needs a Moon tank. Hehe.

 

I get it! I like to party with my friends…..but prefer to work alone on my stuff! I always help others, but never tell them when I working on my stuff! I have my way….and don’t want interference!
