I don't remember what these were. 53 Chrysler? Desoto? Something close to that, with a chrome bullet stuck in the center. -Abone.
I run 55/56 lancers on my Buick. And I picked up these Pontiac caps cheap a few months ago. I just need to figure out if I want a bullet or something else for the center
My favorite was the two piece, hub cap and the glamor ring from the 49/51 Mercurys. The clear ones, not the ones that said “ Mercury Eight” on them. I have some sets of both, but no pictures! Just my preference! Bones
Bringing this back up .... The '53 Stude cover with the 3 point star is early production only - Mercedes "asked" them to quit using it.
Any idea what these things are off? They were on this 56 Merc I just purchased. Im not going to be using them. Some one painted them and they are ugly!
Very cool. I need a set of the "J" Hollywood Full Ripple hubcaps for a restoration we are doing. -Shiny
Anthony nailed it. Aftermarket flipper hubcap. The chrome usually wasn't very good and they rusted in a couple of years.
I have always liked Buick Blades best. Really tired of the 57 Cad hubcaps and Spinners, lots of people run them because they're easy to install, Sombreros are better looking but require wheel work to install.
Sometimes you can make do with what you had. The wheels came with the chassis, the caps with the body (total of $750). Maybe not to your taste, but thrifty and unique . . .
My understanding is that you need Buick wheels to run these covers as they are deeper than all of the others. I have them on my 50, but I needed to remove the clips for the original dog dishes to make these work.
Just got a set of these from Speedway Motors to go on my 56 Merc. I think they look pretty sharp. Will look even better when I get new white walls.
