Just don't let them after your chickens. I have caught a few and figured out they were the ones killing them... Or, better yet, don't get chickens.
Oh, you know we will have chickens....I am thinking of getting a couple of German Shepherds to run the place. I used to raise them, but kinda got out of it.
Why am i not getting notifications/updates on this awesome thread? What, do I have to buy an electric car/truck to be cool now?
Or you just go up to the top of any page and click on "watch thread". Aren't EVs are part of DEI? I thought that $#!T died a couple weeks ago...so @NoSurf don't buy an EV. I know we won't get rid of EVs, but can we at least get those POSs out of the military? (I digress...)
I check the HAMB pretty much every day. And I do have notifications ON for this thread. It seems sometimes the threads that are multiple pages, i don't get notified. No worries. Carry on.
Man that stained concrete came out great ! Alot of our neighbors have chickens. We just watched a coyote jump the fence in stride with one in his mouth awhile back. A regular 4 foot fence won't even slow them down. I've heard Donkeys will keep them at bay... Not sure if that's fact. But I've noticed alot of folks getting those mini donkeys too.
I have heard that as well. I don't wanna hafta feed another hay burner. I used to have horses, no more. I'm not even sure about a big dog. Big dogs can tear up some crap.
I don't want to hear how you can't go on hotrod trips because you can't find anyone to take care of your chickens....
Try an electric fence about 14” off the ground. I rented some pasture once . The owner lived in the middle of the place . They had chickens and ducks . They had an electric fence around it . Never lost any ducks or chickens until the power went off
I can say that we don't seem to have a coyote problem since we have a horse and a goat. But, seems to me that the coyote problem would help the overpopulation of birds problem... lol
Sorry so long since an update. I have been moving stuff from my old shop and just dropping it in the new one. Nothing os organized, it stresses me out. Nothing to show right now. I'll be starting soon on the freight elevator.
What are you using for a freight elevator? I knew a guy at Broken Arrow that used an old electric powered forklift for a freight elevator.
I am using a hoist and unistrut. It’s complicated but while I was laid up with my broken back, I had a lot of free time, so YouTube gave me the idea. Not a lot of progress, but at least I did accomplish something. This was part of “crap day”. I spent yesterday descaling and welding up some drill casing. I’ll bury these outside of the shop doors. Should be heavy enough. Each one weighs over 100 lbs. Keep the building safe…..
Maybe you should fill them. I've seen those bent some. . & even bigger dia(~8" dia) ones bent that were filled w/concrete - but those were at a bus shop... . Saw the door post cracked along w/a bit of the block/brickwall... . Some of the drivers, & mechanics; had "talent"... & the doors still got creamed. . Glad I'm not there, but it did provide comic relief at times... ;D . & if I ever have a decent shop/building, I'll install those things, removable drop-in-style, at ~ 2' intervals behind the garage doors. They might get thru, but... . Marcus...
No. I know you. One dent and you'll have to tear out the whole thing and replace it. Fill w concrete. No dent. Ever. Or not. No worries. Let me know when to send some trees. Lilacs. Maples. Black locust. Red oak.
Or Lamas but they spit . A neighbor has 40 acres covered in goats . They have the big white dogs . But just before dusk the dogs slide through the fence and leave. Then about 30 minutes after sunrise they slip back through the fence and go home . So I guess the dogs chase coyotes all night. I think the post should have reflective tape on them . Then at night a person has something to line up with while backing into the shop .
Well, today was crap day. I forced myself to do the stuff I have been procrastinating to do. My big brain engineer friends gave me lowdown on the requirements for my drainage issues. Since we live in a hill, the constant rutting out of my dirt due to the rain shooting out of my 4” down spouts needed to be addressed. I am having concrete poured hopefully soon, these lines need to be installed first. No way to add it after the fact. I had trenched it back in the summer, but then it rained 9” in 24 hours, so that all filled back in. I have to keep @guthriesmith employed, so I went and rented a ride on ditch witch. This is is a beast. Here are a few pics of the work in progress. I started with 4” DWV schedule 40 pipe and tied it all together funneling into 6” DWV pipe. There is approx 6,000 sf of roof capturing the rain, falling 18’, so it should be moving pretty good by the time it exits.
I appreciate you helping me keep a job. You should have called…I could have brought this one. With a blown 502, it trenches about 100 feet a minute.
I thought I was gonna hafta get a wrecker....I got it buried up pretty good trying to make a second pass to make it wide enough for the 6'' pipe. Had to get my old tractor out and pull it out.
Looks great. Back when I did those we would put a street wye cleanout instead of that 90 elbow at each downspout. But you'll be able to get that fernco off and snake it if you have a dead squirrel in there blocking the flow.
