Some more to learn from the HAMB, as we don't do Thanksgiving down here.

Is that a TH400 pumpkin pie? Do you need to grease the pan before baking? :)

    Cheers,
    Harv

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, engines or women.

My youth was misspent building some flatheads, Chevy & GMC sixes, and one Olds 303. I enjoy looking at any of those and several others. The number of beers consumed has an effect on which is the most beautiful.

They make flexplates like that for racing - the one below is from Quick Time. Even the proper ones just look wrong.

    Hello,

When my wife and I just moved into our small apartment, about a few months later, a small apartment next door opened up and by that weekend, was rented by what we called a power couple. They were young like us, had the “look,” and had a huge Rhodesian Ridgeback Dog for a pet. That dog could have eaten our little dog in one bite. But, was friendly when we were all hanging around on the beach or sandy shoreline. He was a pro football sized guy and his cute wife was about 5'2"... "huge guy/little girl syndrome."

One day, we were in our garage doing some work on our Harley and when the neighbors pulled up in the parking area, the passenger door opened and the huge Ridgeback dog leaped out and came running toward our open garage. Our little dog was standing there to greet the huge dog, but got behind us as the behemoth came charging toward us. We had no idea how he fit in the back of a new 1969 z 28 dark green Camaro. It was a funny scene as the big dog was so large that our dog looked like a small football or a ready to eat meal… all in one bite... yikes!

The young couple just bought the Camaro and we were so happy for the them. It sounded outstanding and had just enough rumble to make folks notice. But, in knowing about the car, we could not help but notice the two white stripes and the red Z28 symbol on the grille. They were not hot rod folks or car folks. They had just finished college and were both lawyers. So, we knew they wanted to be the local “in” couple. Boy, were they ever. A nice couple and must have worked in the same office as they only had one car. A fast one at that...

But, what a car it was… after we got to know them better, the husband asked if I wanted to go with him to Newport Beach to pick up some stuff for his apartment. So, I knew we would be going in his new Z-28 Camaro. That was going to be very cool.

As he got on Coast Highway, the long sandy border of the highway was fairly empty and the road was straight for miles. Beach on one side and a swampy area on the inland side. No traffic lights except for the one we were sitting and waiting. He asked if I knew about Camaros and I said yes. As we talked, the light changed and he took off at full power, since we were the only ones in the intersection.

The acceleration was tremendous and he shifted nicely through the gears. Not speed shifting, but a fairly fast clip through the gears. It was a powerful “throw-you-back” acceleration sensation. In reading about the Camaro acceleration times, most magazines tested to a 7 sec 0-60 car. The quarter mile was mid 14-15 sec and around 100 mph straight from the factory. It was fast and quick.

But, as nice as the Z28 was, it could not hold a surfboard inside and was a powerful cruiser/street racer that was beyond our means. For our neighbors, it was a step towards the future. Within a year, they moved to a larger apartment and it had a two car garage, now with two cars, The z-28 and a Mustang convertible for his cute wife. YRMV

To complete the metaphor a cop would have to show up and write a ticket for an unsecured load.
