Think these'll work. 1-1/2" thread length.

No M&M’s. Only SAE candy please.

Also, 12.8mm (.504”) knurl is too small.

  3. Just drill, some drums are quite sloppy around the hole, make sure it's not an interference fit or you might not get the drum back off.

Anytime I need a lug stud, I just head down to the local NAPA and my parts guy buddies pull out the old school catalog. They've got pages and pages of studs available and they're pictured to scale, so I can just take the old one down and match it up to the pic, or figure out what I need if it's different from what I've got....and if that doesn't work, just drill the drum. It's not like it's got some magic hardening material that is only the size of the hole that's already drilled.

  6. I had to get longer studs in my '41 with a tri 5 rear. I looked all over and came up with the same on as Johnny, but I have a lathe. I've made split collar to hold things in the past.

I think you'll be fine opening up the drum if you're going to use those lug nuts in your previous post.

Gorilla sells lugs with the added reach into the aluminum wheels that only use a taper to attach them.
I will NOT use lugs without the extended threaded part going into the wheel!

Gotta pull it out and do the other side. Locked in at the moment. Gotta pull it out of the garage (passenger side just inch’s from the wall, red 56 behind it covered, then daily truck behind that) so I can finish up. You know the feeling.

Hey Johnny, not to change the subject, but weren't those studs supposed to be swedged into the flange after install? Maybe that's the reason for the extra shank length. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference now.

Happy to say. Since fronts are direct bolt mag shank style, no lug swapping required. Heck, back side of wheel design even allows brake drum rivets to remain. One less thing to deal with.

No. It’s just that the correct replacements only come in 1” of exposed thread.

Doing some clearanceing at the moment since the wheel opening tapers inward at the rear half of the tires vertical centerline. At the moment that’s a 5mm/.197” wheel spacer. After trimming I’ll see about moving tire away from leaf spring a tiny bit more? IMG_3510.jpeg
