Today was a trip to town to work on my good friends 62 SS Impala. Had a no spark problem. It has a 409 with a converted distributor that uses GM HEI module mounted external inside the car and had finally failed. Got it replaced and fired up then the fuel pump started leaking so replaced it. Next I need to figure out what's up with the brakes and clutch linkage.

Ain't that the way it goes; if it's not one thing it's another...

At least it was just an old 409 it wasn't that hard to work on.

    "just an old 409"

Most of us would give a testicle for a 409...

Ooh baby….my first 2-post lift going into the shop and working on distressed lettering for the doors of a friend’s 53 Power Wagon. Life is good!

  6. Re-kitting the carbies... Hopefully the end result is less leaking... better jetting and more drivable around town !!!

Good job by your daughter- good to see the younger ones being involved. Boots would be a better shoe choice... Yeeouch!!

Still much better than the sandals you see being worn on some of the YouTube videos of repairs from India or elsewhere:cool:

It should take only once having hot slag inside your sock/shoe to convince you to NEVER do that again. I still catch myself doing it occasionally as "it'll be ok since I only have to stick something together and only weld for a few seconds." I know it'll get me again someday though.

KIDS !!!! DONT DO DRUGS !!!! You do stupid things
For more than 60 years I’ve wanted a metal flake paint job.
I flaked my 65 V8 Corvair while I had really bad cataracts. I now can see !!! I am so pissed.
The sanding has begun IMG_2727.jpeg IMG_6592.jpeg

I’ve done some stupid shit in my life, this is one of those times.

But ……I’m gonna leave the roof and the tail light panel flaked.

When I screw up, it is always in a big way.
I open the garage door, drive the car out front. Get my tools together, close the garage door……flake problem in the garage solved. Unfortunately, my drive in front of the building looks like a stripper runway :D

Finished up the QC install on the roadster today. Went to fire it up and both carbs started barfing fuel down the throats....this is what happens when you don't drive your shit. Pulled both carb tops off and cleaned the needle and seat assembly's + the squirters. Pulled the plugs cleared and lubed the cylinders and fired it up. Took it for a drive and the QC sounds AWESOME:D. Put about 10 miles on it and parked it in front of the shop... When I came out later I noticed a drip under the rear end, looks like the pinion seal has a small leak. I guess I'll call Winters tomorrow and see what they suggest.
