    Hello,

That photo brings out the Cadillac Art from the dust bin.

1960 Cadillac El Camino For High Speed Deliveries
    upload_2024-12-12_4-15-22.png Red for the holidays...
Our dad has always liked Buicks since his first one in 1946, a 41 grey/silver fastback model. He and his friend were in some sort of competition as far as new cars was concerned. our dad had the philosophy of saving enough money for 4 years to buy a new model of… a Buick, of course.

    So, a 41, a 49, 53, 57, 63 wildcat + 63 Riviera, 68, 72, 76, and his last one an 82. His best ones were the 57 2 door Roadmaster and 1963 Riviera.

But, in the same line, his friend purchased a Cadillac along similar lines. 7 to be in the same mode. Every 4-5 years to be in line with our dad. No one said anything, but my brother and I knew something was up every 4 years. When we would see our dad’s friend, he had a fairly new Cadillac. Not our brand of tea, but a Cadillac sedan, not a Buick.

So, after I got my El Camino, he was still driving his 63 Riviera. So, there was no other choice. But, he liked that I would have plenty of space in the back for anything, especially motorcycles and when it was time, gardening trees and plants for our mom. The pickup bed was handy and since he usually drove to work by himself it was a natural. Plus, he and our mom were the only ones going places together.

He would have liked this version I drew several months ago.

This time, in all fairness to his competition with his friend, I drew a Cadillac version of the style he would have liked had he gone to an El Camino style and Cadillac made one… Boy, that would have been something to see two old guys standing around their respective Buick/Cad El Caminos "chewing the fat." Especially, if they were wearing their favorite "Dobbs Fedora" hats...
upload_2024-12-12_4-17-4.png A slight rake to give it some attitude, as if a red El Camino Cadillac needs any extra attitude...
fins and all… All in the holiday RED color mode…

But, as family station wagons go, a nice Nomad style Cadillac version would still have the sleek original design, but look as if it belonged in a custom car show in the downtown Sports Arena in Long Beach.
upload_2024-12-12_4-19-14.png For you had to scrape the ground "lowered" stance folks... any lower and it would scrape.
upload_2024-12-12_4-20-18.png So, more attitude for a large station wagon was applied to better results... in a "Blue Monday" mode... YRMV
