ok hambers it's been decided I want a mild chop like the green truck In the pic has, I'm thinking of doing it about the windshield and adding a 28-29 car visor instead of the big pickup/truck visor, I'd like to make all my cuts around the glass in order to keep stock windshield and rear window, do you guys have any insight on Chopping one of these things?
Here's something I learned from my chop job of 30+ years ago.. I chopped the sedan 5 inches and got the classes 5" shorter. That gave them ability to jam easier as the years went by. And one I just learned 2 or 3 years ago, if you're going to drive to Bonneville a few years in a row and have wind-up windows, it's best to tape the top of the windowsills to keep the salt out -- especially with a fenderless car. You'll see the bad results years later after the salt has done its damage to the door bottoms.
Thanks for the info I do plan on taking this thing to bonneville! Never really thought about the salt eating away at it over time. As far as the chop goes i want to keep it mild because there's not a lot of room in that cab also the rear window is tiny so I want to make the cuts around it so it doesn't get smaller
I don't think most around here would consider what you've posted as an example a "mild chop". It also doesn't fit your description of what you want to do with stock windshield height. The truck below, posted on one of your other threads, has about the chop you're describing. The build thread kind of describes what was done to the roof. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...y-suede-cant-get-no-lovin-this-year.377527/ More photos/info here after it was completed: https://theamazoeffect.blogspot.com/2012/11/1929-ford-model-truck-marine-rod-ology.html?m=1 https://www.hotrod.com/features/hrxp-1203-1929-ford-truck-living-art/
Thanks for the link, that pickup is cool as a KQQL thing! Looking forward to seeing this one come together @Jess Rockatansky
here's a few more of that pickup, the chop is midway of the middle and upper door hinges , you will have to cut the windshield, door glass and rear window , no way around that, yet being it's flat glass there's not much of a issue
