Finally after almost a 4 year wait, I finally got my engines back from from a not recommended builder, unless you have time on your hands and like to hear BS. That aside, they look great and now I can finally get my Model A Vicky project rolling again. I guess good things do come to those who wait...
WOW! They look great! The guys on the thread complaining about the cost of building a flathead need to take a gander at your bills.
Good looking engines you got there. I should mention there’s an old lady from Pasadena lookin for one of those. Just sayin.
I like how you tapped water exits from the front of the (truck or 331?) heads on the engine on the left.
Thanks for all the comments. More than anything, it's a great stress relief to have these finally back in my shop and not 3 states and 550 miles away.
Both are 398 CI, Red is just over 8:1, black is about 9.5:1. Both have most all the goodies, "H"-beam rods (K1), forged pistons, roller cams, adjustable rockers...not a cheap date ! I've always been very good at separating my "wants" from my "needs", but figure at 65 years old, it's time to have a want for once. Blown one is going in this.
Whew! Awesome. Beautiful. Congratulations is in order. Glad you're feeling better. LOL Can I take this opportunity to ask a basic question? I'm just curious about how much more you figure the supercharger setup ads to the overall length of the engine. And would it be pretty typical? Thanks! Have fun. I know you're gonna.
Sure hope they continue to to make you smile. Had an acquaintance get his 2nd gen rebuilt by 'the guy' locally decades ago. Never ran right. He took the heads off and found 2 pistons installed backwards!
Damn "Scruffy" Happy for you to have them & anxious for you to have that first "Balls to the wall" blast. By the way....If you have any hesitations, I will be glad to come up & make that 1st blast for you!
