I lean towards blue and sometimes green but as some have said, it depends on the car. I don’t really care for red but I loved it on my Model A coupe. I had my ‘56 Chevy painted the factory Matador red and although it looked pretty good, the color made it easier for me to let go of. I’ll be painting my Morris woody a lemon yellow, we’ll see if I like it. Sounds like it will go well with the natural wood. My roadster will be dark metallic blue with a white interior, that one’s a given.
All our daily/work vehicles are silver or white, it gets hot here. I like black cars but I haven’t had one in quite a while.

Hooley and I got on an Orange kick. I painted the 974 Studebaker Bonneville car orange, then the Okie Twister nostalgia gasser, then I painted a cafe racer I built orange and now I am building a cycle car that will be orange. All the same paint code.

Definitely Bruce. He used to be on the hamb, but he got locked out and can't figure out how to get back in.

Since I am blue green color blind, I’ve had a lot of black cars (defined as the absence of color), most of the dirt cars were white (all of the colors combined). Just an aberration of nature I guess…

Painting everything the same color does simplify things. If you mix up too much, you just use what is quickly hardening in front of your eyes to touch up the paint nicks in the other car.

    Current stable- all different colors
One day I think the 57 will be original colors again Sierra Bronze/Adobe Biege 20241127_153550.jpg 20241127_153610.jpg 20241127_153638.jpg 20241203_185033.jpg

  12. if you take a look at any parking lot in this area, every car is white, black or some sort of grey/silver.
there is a billion color choices in the world and these three seem to be be preferred .
    white being the majority.
grey/silver always look like primer to me.
I think calling black the "absence" of color [by definition] is not correct to my eye. if you look into a black finish it takes on every color around it.
I have nine cars and they are all different colors.

  13. I hate silver. Probably from my wholesale days. Seemed every silver car needed painted. We stayed away from them. Wifes car, black, My truck, red with yellow flames, my Roadster, orange with tan scallops, My Bug, Diamond grey Metallic with pink and white wheels, my Square body, dark blue, I also have a blue car, yellow car, white car, orange, etc. Stepson, everything is black.

  14. I like crusty

as far as paint color, depends on the vibe.

1975 seams so long ago, but the black & red still looks good in the photo. Car is somewhere in California last I knew.

This all started when I was daydreaming about my F100 and my 36 p/u build. I love the color I picked out for the F100, so much that I started wondering how dorky it would be to have 2 cars the same color.......

Different shades for different shapes and eras.
Do not care for most silvers, coppers or bronze along with appliance white. I call it business suit shades, like most new stuff. Boring. I may live like a Gray Man, but don't want my cars to be that.
If it's Black, it's gotta be solid, not the metallic that is common now. Looks dirty even when clean.
There are colors that I like but would never try to apply (candys, metallics).
Of the primary (Red, Blue, Yellow) and secondary colors (Purple, Green, Orange) I tend toward the warmer colors.
Prefer to be on the brighter end, not muted. The exceptions would be Maroon and BRG.
Pastels IMHO only work on 50s stuff, I'd avoid them if it leaned toward 90s style.

  24. I am a one colour guy. One colour I will never own a vehicle in unless it's a Ferrari and the chances of that happening are pretty much Zero so no red vehicles for me. IMO the worst colour to ever be used on a car.

As much as I like wild paint schemes and bold colors, I tend to stay quite bland & neutral with my own vehicles. I prefer white, tan, & light blue. I did have a car with a red flaked roof and dash, but it wasn't "loud". One day I may step out of my comfort zone and do something more bold.

One color I can’t stand on a car is flat black. It shows no imagination no matter what is done to it. Hell, flat, faded and patina all suck. It says I’m too cheap and lazy to do good bodywork and paint. Be proud of your work make it shiny!

I am always afraid of owning the car with the leftover trend. The heartbeat striped or the pastel easter egg, so I tend to stick with monochrome neutral colors. Something that stands the test of time. Remember the chameleon paint that was all the rage for 45 minutes?

  30. I guess I'd rather have something that's exciting and stands out than paint something a boring colour because I am worried about what others think.
