Really don’t know anything about this hot rod seen at Moss Point Mississippi during Cruisn’ the Coast but a coat of paint would turn it into a very nice car.

Well after 15 pages I think it is safe to say, were there abbreviated, fender less pickups built before 1964? Yes, there were. Do 75% of the trucks pictured represent that build era? No, they don't! Would I drive the HELL! out of 90% of them? Yes, I would!!! lol Larry

Wouldn't this have been considered a "Bobber" if the term had been around in "the day"? Paint is fancier, but basically meets the definition as far as open wheels and shortening and weird suspension.........:p

Nice. Are you trying to start a fire with that unclamped red crap on the pressure side of the fuel pump?

  19. When I bought the Rocky33 my dad and I drove over to bring it home. His buddy Jerome had a VERY similar truck in the early 60s so yes, they were around

Looking for the picture but I was up near Grandon WI about 25 years a go at a garage sale and a guy had burried in a shed a built in the 50's 37 Dodge that was channeled no fenders on the front and what looked like trailer fenders on the rear and had a 331 or 354 hemi in it wiht 2x4s and was running a 57 or so olds rear . The bed was about 4 feet long or so . I dont know what trans had a straight axle in it wiht no drop sitting high in the front with really skinny slot mags in the front and wide steels in the rear and some really old slicks . ran I think a 34 or 5 doge grill . the fire wall that sticks out on these was ugely as sin.
I doubt it was very attractive when it was being run but It certainly fit the time frame and all that of here . I asked if it would be for sale and he said maybe after he died .
I was up there 5 years ago and the shed and truck was gone so im guessing he died .

I do have a picture of it some were . I always wondered what the engine had done to it .

  23. I found this on the old Instagram Machine on the Tappets car club page and thought for this thread!

They may not have been common but proof it happened and was accepted!

Just because it's not traditional doesn't mean it's not period correct, I remember hearing an out timer at the Rockabilly Rumble in East Hartford Conn saying-

"If your car was fast it was cool, we didn't care what it looked like or how many doors it had!"

I’ve got a badly chopped 36 cab that I need to do something with. I don’t wanna straighten the cab up without having a purpose.

Even those these things were/are trendy, I have a couple of old frames and a slightly warmed over 350 that needs to go in something….so I can build something to beat around in fairly cheap, then sell it and move on.

My '36 doesn't look like much, by HAMB standards, but the end of the driving season this year I turned 47K mostly trouble free miles. I love getting in it and just going.

  27. My little '39 Maple Leaf is a blast to drive as a daily. And as you can tell from the back end I be not caring what others think! Haha!
These trucks are a fairly inexpensive way to get into our hobby and can certainly look right if planned well.

Sounds like fun, Back in the 60's the guy who ran the Shell Station in the middle of town aka Central Shell had a chopped and channeled 36 with a small block in it that usually sat outside his station. I think I may have the grill shell off it but I haven't found the metallic blue paint. His was way before they were called bobber trucks or other off the wall name. They were just hot rod trucks.
