I felt compelled to tell the story of my 1940 mercury . I love 49-50 mercury’s, I’m not sure if it was watching rebel with out a cause in the early 80’s on channel 9 or what ( btw Rebel Without A Cause is a Christmas movie) but I thought man those are the ultimate cool guy car. It wasn’t till years after that I learned how cool 39-40 Mercs and 37-40 Zephers are , So needless to say years later after that the internet came around and occasionally I’d search 39-40 merc and years after that found this one, supposedly ol moonshiner / drag racer, it did have a 40 merc engine. , offenhauser heads , 39 trans( disnegrated ) hand made exhaust dumps And hand written time slips in the glove box . The car as parked in 1962 of so until the previous owner bought it in 1963. It’s set in a garage since missing out on things like Rosa parks. JFK, the Beetles, the stones, Vietnam, the entire 80’s-90’s, it even missed the whole realization in the late 90’s of traditional hot rodding
Thank you for listening to my Christmas Story and also share the story of the lil of Merc that could.
Thank you thank you!!!! I just wanted to build a late 40’s early 50’s looking car, I believe in letting the car talk to me and keeping to the roots, soo many great eras
