Sorry but that thing is butt ugly. It needs dual rear axles to pull off the length of that rear end.... ...
I've seen some ugly stuff but that one takes the trophy. First thing I'd do is cut the entire rear half of the body off and shred it... On second thot, I think I'd go find a rust bucket '65 and start over...!!!
Not a bad price, IMO they should’ve incorporated the tail lights, one of my favorite details of the 65, had a 66 always wanted a 65. Dan
Not unlike hot rods, some customs miss the mark also, regardless of what notable builder does the work, IMHO Joe missed the mark on this one. HRP
Like it or not, it makes you wonder how it got to the condition it's in today. So much effort, time, skill involved to create it, then to let it go to Hell. Personally, I don't care for it, but the builder I'm sure achieved what he set out to do....create a show worthy custom. Like all customs, not intended to please everyone's taste.
The picture of it in the show painted black, changes the car quite a bit. Wish there were more pictures like that posted.
And, here come the custom haters, right on cue. I'd love to see this thing restored, and I feel like there's a good chance of it. The lowrider crowd loves historical stuff like this, and I think this car fits in better with them than the trad custom crowd, not that that's a bad thing. I could totally see a restored version of this car touring around Japan, they seem to love and appreciate wild show car stuff like this over there. The price really isn't too crazy either. That said, the listing leaves a lot to be desired, I've written longer, more detailed descriptions to sell a license plate bracket.
It looks great in the car show picture in the first post. In the 3/4 rear view it looks “hippy” and the rear too plain. Lengthening the taillights and adding slim bumper might lighten up the rear some. I never really cared for those big bodied Chevys but I like it. I won’t be adding it to my stable though.
To me, most of Bailon’s stuff was a little gaudy. This one is out of the park, a foul ball, not a home run.
The taillights/rear section is a little strange. It seems to not fit the rest of the overall look of the car, but I dig it. I'm a fan of the late model customs. Every time something like this gets posted, the haters of everything that's not a stock bodied tri-5 Chevy, restored muscle car, street rodded deuce roadster, etc., come out with the ugly comments. Your opinions are like your taste in cars. Boring.
It’s only personal opinions, just like yours. And just for the record, I love, in my opinion, a well done, tasteful, custom.
I dig it, show cars were supposed to be far out in the angel hair era. Now, on the show card there is mention made of the 1970 327 engine. 327's were gone by then.
