Was Ford Barn the other site? If not, may be worth a try.

  2. Oh! You're right about that. I'm not equipped to get my head around the scam mentality!

First thing is Google image search the pic of the truck he sent to you, see if it's a picture available on the web. If it is, it's just the only picture he could find to send you. A picture of one of those spindles would be hard to find but pics of the truck are easy.

Want ads are pretty worthless. Call/email some salvage yards that deal in old car parts. There are a few of them that are HAMB members I think. Someone has that, no need to send money to a sketchy seller.

My Hollander tells me 1957-64 F100 and F250 2 wheel drive spindles are all the same. Double check my info but that sure opens up the chances of finding one close to home. I don't know what model truck you need it for.

it's a federal offence to cross a state line to cause bodily harm to someone,.. and also to call them and state bodily harm over the phone...no need to know why I know this... but... one must have faith in the judgement that is above scotus..when ever I refuse to let it go... it ends up costing me x10....when I do let it go...x10 stuff seems to just fall out of the sky.... 99% of the guys that say they would go after this guy..... would not...the guys that say, I'll kick his ass... almost never have... it's the ones that say nothing to watch out for....I would hit up the chick that had/has the manifold for sale...and say... hey thats mine and I want it back...and just see what happens....

just remember... anything you do will be considered premeditated ...and any use of force by him will be considered justifiable..

The OP made a mistake, it would be ludicrous to make another one that has serious ramifications.

If the woman has the intake for sale, check out who she is. Then go to a "Find Someone" site and pay the fee to use it. Its cheap for what it does. You can check out the guy and you often find all of his friends and ex wifes etc. Also check out the woman selling it. Try to find a connection between them. Then contact the woman (after you have saved a copy of her sale ad on your computer) and tell her that she is selling an item that was stolen from you and if she will send it back C.O.D. you will not contact the police. If she's not willing, then contact the local or possibly the state police and advise them that she is receiving stolen property and selling it on the net. Those "find someone" sites provide a lot of info for tracking people, relatives, friend, neighbors. Went thru that last year when what I thought was a Paypal purchase went thru Metapay and they wouldn't fix it. Guy is in jail now though..........

  10. I would arrange to buy the intake back, set up a time to meet this female, then show up with law enforcement and all my proof that this intake belonged to me. Then, sit back and watch shit evolve.

At what point did I say anything about violence? My point was that the OP would be out of pocket another $500ish if he wanted to turn up on the guy's doorstep and confront him. If a beating was the intent, it is twice as stupid. Nothing but a good way to either get yourself arrested.......... or you might just take the beating yourself.
There are other ways to proceed, but just letting it go should not be one of them. Stealth and patience can be the key. Everyone's day eventually comes.;)

Chalk it up as tuition expense....to the College of Hard Knocks. Most of us have paid, as well.

  16. Joe's Auto Sales in Hasting MN specializes in Ford parts and has quite a few trucks in his yard along several trailers full of parts.

Windy Hills Auto Parts in New London, MN has trucks too, took a few pitman arms off out there for use on earlier F-100 boxes.

Like Mark says French Lake is a good place too.

Whenever I come by one of these posts I think how careful I've been and who I've dealt with.
Then it strikes me that I did all that before the internet; OR driven to the party I dealt with.
Covered the region from Mississippi to Miami to Worcester and Cape Cod, from DE.
As far as getting even with, or over from, a bad deal I wish to share this list of items lost to energetic thieves. This is from the time I lived in and near "The City Of Brotherly Love"
One top box chest-loaded---- ( from gas station )
One handy break down box-loaded---- ( from work truck )
Contents of one top box---- ( from buddy's garage, he lost too )
    One Sun tach **
One Superior 3 spoke wheel **
    One pair traction bars **
    One pair of M+H Piecrusts-used ** ----( all off of 55Nomad )
    Two Hurst T handles---- ( from 57 210 and Nomad )
Two eight track tape players ---- ( From under dash 55 Nomad and 64 Conv Cutlass )
One Borg Warner 4 speed---- ( from '65 SS Chevlle )
    One Aluminum High-rise/Holley+ dist. ---- ( off of '65 SS Chevelle )
One 2 gallon Moon tank ---- ( Set by door for a half hour )
One Bianchi Italian bicycle / W- custom leather seat---- ( out of garage )
These were from 1969 to 1982
    Life goes on:mad: It's a hobby?o_O

  18. Your post is not clear on WHEN any of this happened. IS Catie Cole presently attempting to sell your intake or DID Catie Cole attempt to sell your intake several years ago?

Most of the time getting even is more work than it's worth, takes up a lot of your time, and costs more than what you lost. Plus it can backfire and you could end up loosing more than you did in the first place. Chalk it up to a learning experience and move on.

If I lose a small amount, $50 or so......I'll chalk it up. Maybe even a little more if its too much trouble. The way a lot of these people operate is that they offer something thats several hundred dollars (or less) and then the police won't follow up because its a misdemeanor. They rely on that. What some don't know is that if they bilk several people and the police know, the amount becomes a felony. Thats what happened with the guy who screwed me. The thing is, if everyone ignores it, it proliferates (already has). So if a few hundred dollars is involved, having an officer knock on their door and realizing some people do file complaints that are on file may make them think twice before doing it again. If no one even tries to make them uncomfortable, they will get even bolder.

The one solution I have found is to always use Paypal and don't use the "friends and family" option to save the fee. The only time I ever had a problem was when I thought I was using Paypal and somehow it was Metapay.......just happened to be the transaction with a scammer.....and Metapay left me hanging. Paypal has come thru for me every time and some of them were high dollar refunds ($2k+ twice). So I'm a believer in Paypal.

Dennis, Jon Koeniguer is a scam artist. He tried the same thing with me. Sent me pictures of a complete car he was parting out. Only, issue was that he couldn’t describe or send a picture of what I needed.

If you are desperate for the front spindles, then find the guys address and tell him you will get the money to him. Then you are someone you can trust a HAMBer, show up at his door with the cash.

Not to play armchair quarterback or judge anyone, cause I’ve done some seriously stupid shit in my lifetime, and maybe it’s because I’m not on any social media that I don’t have the same kind of exposure to scumbag scam artists on Instagram or Facebook marketplace or wherever else the kids are eating laundry detergent pods these days, but I’m always amazed when I read these threads like “I was scammed by xyz”.
The only place I will buy parts or anything for that matter is eBay and only from sellers with 100% positive feedback and only with PayPal. Either that or in person with cash at a swap meet.
I feel terrible for people that have been ripped off buying stuff online, but man you are taking a lot on faith with a complete stranger.
The very next day after the internet was invented, someone figured out how to scam people and steal their money with it.

  25. I would pass. Tell him to Facetime you with the part in his hand and a picture of his drivers license. No deal unless

Been running an ad on the Ford Barn. A couple of HAMB members gave me some salvage yards to check out.
