It’s what you stuck the map under in the days before GPS. Or to hold your transistor radio up where it would work when you didn’t have a radio.

    Showing my age am I?

I was going to guess a deflector for the defroster. But @Joe Blow seems to have the answer.

  13. I think JC Whitney sold those back in the day.:D

And Boy, does it catch fish !!!!

In the 70’s when I lived in Chicago, I sold business forms to Ronco Teleproducts in Elk Grove Village during their hey day. Their lobby was filled with every gadget they had ever sold.

My Grandfather had one of the after-market "Doo-dads" on the dash of his 60 Chevy, recall it overflowing will misc. items, may well be where the "Doo-dad" description originated.

My uncle used them to test the cornering ability of his old Savoy

You placed a golf ball behind the fence and see if you can corner hard enough to send the golf ball rolling across the dash.
A fun game for kids riding with that irresponsible uncle

LOL. When we cleaned out my Mom's house after she passed, it seems she was a sucker for those Ronco ads...more like an addiction. I still have her Mystery Jar Opener and Magic Knife Sharpener.;)
