Friends, colleagues, enemies, haters.... we are gathered here today, because it came one helluva damn snow, sprinkled with a sweet layer of ice, and seeing as how i had to work in it all damn night.... I'm laying at home today. It's a new year, new friends, new plans, new pains... but with this weather, I needed something to lift my enthusiasm, so let's plan and discuss. I'm nothing but thankful for those of you that have made the time and trip to come to Kentucky, and hang out the past 2 years! It's a learning process for sure, but not something that needs micromanaging, or over thinking. It's a gathering, right? This year I'm going to advertise it here. But it will be something like pre 1972 or something. Big Al talked to me about activities involving your car, like an obstacle course type of challenge. Since it will be at the park in Camargo Kentucky again, maybe we'll do a timed event around the park... where along the way, you have to get out of the car, and do a task, automotive related of course. Prizes to winners. Also an automotive Easter egg hunt/ scavenger hunt. Of course the valve cover race, and night time activities for my friends that wanna party! There will be trophies this year... and food, and giveaways, and good times.... I'm open to suggestions for things you would like to see happen, event shirts will remain the same for as long as this keeps going, only changing the year. Anyway, here's a start on the topic, even though my name is on the shirt, this is for all of you! Hope to meet some new folks this year  IMG_0099.jpeg.jpg

  5. Me too!! This year I’m driving Papaw, no trailers!! We have been there from the beginning and it’s always great. The first year, Lloyd had a poker run around the country and that was fantastic even though we had Tonya’s Equinox. The scavenger hunt sounds great!! I like the idea of having a cruise in as well.

Alyn and I are in, and if I remember correctly, there are a few of us whose birthdays fall around that weekend. I figure we can all celebrate on the same day, so how many candles are we gonna need for the cake;)? Not that I would ever give away a lady's age, but I'll be 81 and with just the two of us, we're gonna need 136:D. o_OEdit: 138:D Re-edit:290

  14. My Mom’s birthday is on September 4, she will be 78. I would love to bring her along, but she’s on oxygen and doesn’t like to leave the house much. I’ll see what I can do about getting her to come.

Well, add 74 if I make it. Good thing Lloyds a fireman, shaping up to be a big fire!

I'm gonna come with my 56 truck and 58 trailer. I need to figure out details as I will need a place to stay in trailer. If camping is available at the Camargo park itself that would be best, but if not maybe I could stay where Bill is? Is that a campground? My 1958 Easy Travler is only 20241005_071819.jpg 13 ft so don't need much of a space. Lloyd I would like to contribute.

You're welcome to sit your camper up at the park, but there's no hookups. It'd be cool to see it

  18. Glad you can set up at the park, because the cabin I rented is way up on a mountain with 1 or 2 others, no campgrounds & you could never get your trailer up there....Hell it was tough enough driving the 4 door dually up there by itself , especially the night of the big storm!

    God Bless
    Bill

  19. The last two days I’ve spent working in the snow and ice keeping trucks in St. Louis running and I’ve got a terrible case of the winter blues and this thread keeps me sane and feeling good about summer time.

Andy have you got to drive Papaw yet?

  21. Not yet, I have to install the radiator, exhaust, shifter, and finish the front brakes. I wanted to install discs on the front, but our end of year bonuses were not as expected and I’m going to remove the Huck brakes and upgrade to Bendix style front drums. I have had it running for about 10 seconds when I was testing fuel pump circuits and it started up and ran on a bit or residual gas left in the tank. When it started, it spooked the crap outta me because I thought the tank was bone dry!

  22. Excellent point Bill!! Thank you!

Seems my calendar may be open for this date and I may have a rebuilt car by then. What better way to break it in?

Guthrie, great to see you if you make it! Bill, you showed me how your old trailer was ''done'' last year. My rusty old drag trailer is going to need some more work if it's gonna do anything for me. Can't load a car with the tail rusting half off! Or I might do what you did and buy another one. $$$

  25. Jeff, get that Ford running and join in the mayhem! I will warn you, once you attend, you will want to come back every year! I don’t know what route you would take, but if you come up through St. Louis, maybe we can caravan if you don’t mind running with an olde Chevy truck.

Lol…you know I am a Chevy guy right? I just got a good deal on a couple Ford’s and that is what most people here know of me. :D I’m sure I would likely head up through there since I have family not far from you.

  27. I did not know that! I do understand having Fords, there are a few that turn my head too!
