I think having car after car the same color would be boring. Between my wife and I we have 5, purple, red, beige, dark blue/silver and a light blue

  6. Here's a pic of my new-to-me '55 150 Moredoor with 74,000 original miles. 6 cylinder 3 on the tree runs like a top. I changed the wheels and tires from 8" CRAGARS and radials all around to 15x4" and 15x6" CRAGARS and Bias Plys... DONE.

^ '55 150 models are the ''cleanest'' of the tri 5s. Always liked the no trim look. Only chrome bumpers and door handles, a couple of emblems and that's all.

Like I said, I have never owned a 55, but have worked on several. This car has some cool history in the town I live in. It was originally purchased by a friend of mine's dad in 1960 and was his high school car. Then, my buddy got it when he was in junior high, painted it at vo-tech, and made it a hot rod along the way with multiple different motors and 4-speeds. Anyway, I was honored to be the one that got to repaint the car in 95 after my buddy put a blown big block in it. The car is one of those local cars that everyone knows and my buddy was one of the founding members of the local car club. So, this was one of the original cars. A couple older pics from the early 80's with my buddy and his dad and then one of my hippy self after painting it in 96 I think.

A 55 with a tear drop scoop cool, when I was a kid a few Tri Fives had them, now I never see a tear drop scoop on anything but a Ford, I like it.

Thanks. I picked that scoop since I like them too. My buddy sold the car about 20 years ago to another friend in town and he didn’t like the teardrop. It now has one of those square Chevy scoops everyone uses on it. I molded it on too, but sure don’t like it as much.

The 55 was released with great fanfare (is that still a word) The local Chevy dealer White Cheverolet in Euclid Ohio was at the end of my street. The dealership windows were covered and they were to have a grand opening showing the car. As a 17 year old hotrodder I snuck into the showroom and was overwhelmed with the new car A BABY CADILLAC was my first thought. Style, form, frenched headlights like the Caddy. It was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. GM certainly hit a homerun.

  26. WH 5.jpg Didn't realize my old wrecks are 70 years old till I saw this thread 55.jpg . Had the 210 in the late 70's to about late 90's. Stoplight killer; Petaluma Blvd., Great Highway, Camino Real. It had an L-88 427, Saginaw 4-speed with a Mr. Gasket straight line shifter, 4.56 posi. That trans held until I put a set of slicks on it and went to Sears Point on Wed. night run what ya brung. Scattered that bad boy on it's first launch.

After being 55less for 20 years I found the Bel Air that checks all my boxes. It had been a dedicated race car for 25 years. Fiberglass front end, 327 built by Ohio George, 10% engine setback, 4-speed, '57 Olds rear with 4.10 chunk, Halibrands. Probably gonna keep this one.
