IMG_1757.jpeg IMG_4936.jpeg IMG_4935.jpeg IMG_1382.jpeg Last year I had had enough of the straight headers on my flathead powered A. Put about 7000 miles on it with them.
I had been talking with Mike and Jim Barillaro about building new headers and running the exhaust out the back.
My main goal was to actually be able to talk to whoever was in the car with me lol.
We decided on 2 1/2” stainless tubing with Porter mufflers. I let them decide the best route to build the exhaust because they are the ones with the experience.
I was very surprised at the end results. It beat anything I had in my mind. It might be too quiet now lol. After tuning on it, she runs so much stronger.
Could not be happier with it.

That is a lot of pipes for a flathead! Beautiful work though. Not a Midas muffler job.

Full length headers on that flatty! Tight & right job on the exhaust, sano professional work.

That old setup must have been super loud, right next to the passenger compartment.

That's one of the reasons That I don't drive my hot rod much as it's crazy loud. Been thinking lately of building some headers and full exhaust.

Nice job, If it is too quiet, eliminate the H pipe. connecting the 2 sides like that kills the old timey hot rod sound....

You can’t upload video to the hamb you have to put it on you tube and then post the link in your post. The “option” of adding video has never worked and apparently is more work than it’s worth to remove it

Headersnlook great you’d never guess they were some long bundle of snakes!

Yes it will. The only reason the x pipe was put in was the pipes were so close at that point the decision was made to connect them. Honestly probably not going to change it. I might polish the tips if I find my round too it coin. :D

I'll add my voice to "great, clean work".
As said, it could be tuned with changes, but you could also add some drag caps in there at some point so when you get a wild hair, you could go back to uncorked and remember why you did this.

  23. They look very good. I have to drive many miles to get to anywhere so having a quiet exhaust has been on my list for about 20 years. :) Short of dumps, it's tough to have it all. :)

I’m thinking about new exhaust for the flattie in my 53 pickup and would love to hear why you went with 2.5” stainless for a flattie. The stainless I get, but 2.5” pipe seems a little large.

  25. They did a great job on that, I was surprised at the size of pipe too

That's an exhaust system to be proud of! Really well thought out, and a beautiful installation.

With the headers it ran so good but baffles in the headers really choked it down. So I didn’t want any restriction. With the long tube headers and x pipe it runs so much better. There was a lot of discussion with Mike and Jim about what size pipe to run. Very happy with the performance and sound.

I would love to see some pics of the header build if you have any that you would care to share.
