Lew Russell Robinson, better known as Sneaky Pete was a gifted innovator. He pared as much weight as possible from his early dragsters, used air cylinder jacks at the starting line to rev up his slicks (which the NHRA soon banned), developed his own blower drive, pruned blower cases and later in conjunction with Gasser great George Montgomery built magnesium blowers and drives, and he thought his SBC was too heavy and switched to a 289 Ford.
I guess that brought the attention of Ford executives because he soon was using Ford SOHC engines. He and long time associate Harvey Crane engineered a gear drive for the Cammer and it was Pete’s vacuum cleaner ground effects car that showed much promise but tragically killed him at the age of 37.
    RIP Pete.

Pedro Rodriguez at Indianapolis in 1963. The car is the former 1961 Cooper Climax that Jack Brabham in that year's 500 although it has been modified and is now powered by an Aston Martin engine. Rodriguez tried to qualify at Indianapolis several years in the 1960s but never did make the field. Although he had adequate funding and sponsorship he always seemed to be in the wrong car.

Do you suppose the insurance company would claim this vehicle as a total loss if they were deployed? I know I would!;)
