Happened around dark thirty Friday. By time the flat bed got me home it was late.. Mondays calls 1st on list.
I'd go with a different bracket from a different manufacturer . . . why take a chance with a replacement of the same design. I've not looked at the one that H&H sells but would check it out and see if it is thicker or has a different gusset structure. The main reason the driver's side version appears stronger is due to where the generator stub mount is located.
Here's a similar one for sale. It has been repaired. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/alt-gen-flat-head-offset-bracket.1329769/
No years ago I got this one with the block broke. Had it welded. On mock up seems it pushes gen out a tad for belt alignment. Thinking new power gen bracket is thicker than others.
You should compare the spot faced areas on the head to be sure they are all the same height from the head mounting surface. Then check the mounting surface on the underside of the bracket to make sure it is in line with the centerline of the generator. There might be high stresses induced by merely mounting the bracket to the head.
Seems "strange" they way someone ground the raised letters. Does Offy actually do this ? Very unusual. Yes, I can read that it says Offenhauser. Doesn't mean they made it.
Offenhauser is still in business, seems doubtful they would stand for someone making an exact knockoff with their name on it.
The Chinese can make some mighty fine alloys-they've got the technology, you just need to find a buyer that will want quality not price-point. These days, I'm not convinced Made in the USA is any good. Loyal, yes, but I'm not convinced that the worker or management cares. It''s always a crap-shoot, good luck.
they run a wire brush or roloc over the letters so you can read them easier. I’ve watched them do a a dozen times in their videos. Offy still exists, in America, making the parts in America. Speedway selling some Offy parts doesn’t change a single thing about the bracket except the return address and the receipt.
