SM420's have the small bearing retainer like a passenger car. The big bearing retainer came on the SM465's that came out in 1967.

  8. Too cold to work in the garage, but the dang daily driver's fuel pump went out over Christmas, parked outside in the trees along the driveway, so I dropped the tank and commenced to replace the pump. Unfortunately the fuel line coupling won't come apart, regardless of how I use the de-coupler tool. I'll have to cut the two lines, remove the tank, pull and replace the pump, then put it all back under the vehicle using fuel line hose and clamps. But that's going to have to wait a few weeks until the weather warms. Tonight it's supposed to get down to -5 degrees and we've got another week or so of really cold weather. Meanwhile, my '29 AA still needs another coat of paint on the body and fenders, then a round of wet or dry 1000 followed by light buffing to get the finish I want. That will then allow me to attach the body to the frame, including the fenders and splash aprons. Once that's done, I can wire it, start up and run in the engine and transmission. That's the goal for this spring. GET IT RUNNING!

20250122_134319.jpg Came down with the crud Sunday:confused: finally felt ok enough to make the brake lines for the Tempest cradle. Now I can bolt it back in the car and haul it to the shop to start setting up the ladder bar rear suspension.

made a simple stand that bolted to the bell. Went to do similar on the front and found out there is no front provision for an engine mount. Looks like someone put the wrong plate on it.
No side mounts on the block.

I have only been procrastinating about this since 2009, this is the rear body panel that I cut off the Car Craft Dream rod when I restored it. The rear of the car was completely changed when they modified it and called it the Tiger shark. I built a wall mount bracket, made the tail light work and built a couple of acrylic shelves to display hot wheels and models of the car. I finally painted it yesterday.

hope not. I put a 3M plastic car cover sheet on it and taped it to the floor. I will take it off tomorrow and see. Be a shame to mess it up. It was last painted in 1965. I thank my lucky stars that it was done with Dulux enamel and not lacquer. Looks pretty good for 60 year old paint
