In related news, saw a name from the past trying to scam people on FB.
Long time HAMBers may remember the name Ruben Fuke.
He is still around, and still using the same name.

  4. That one (at least) FB group has been spooky since it first started!

When I was looking for rear 32 fenders, some guy claiming to be from Nashville posted a pair for sale. His language and diction (this coming from a hillbilly:rolleyes:) made me pull up.

I have a friend who lives close by in Franklin, so I asked for the seller’s address and told him that my friend would come by, check them out and pay in cash. What a surprise to be told that the fenders were actually in Dallas, BUT he would be glad to ship them!

This same guy also posted several 32-34 pickups for sale at below market prices. JERK!
    Get a rope!

That's the same guy I posted the screen shot on on page 1. He didn't even change the orignal add.

    2 big Red flags.

Some people are too quick to part with their money, and these scum bags know it.

Jeeze sorry I just reread your post. I shared the same FB profile you posted...I think they were both reported but I still see it up...they are scattered in different groups.

If you post that on FB, 12 people will appear out of nowhere, to "sell" you one.

There are automated bots, that constantly search for specific terms, and reply.

I left Facebook before the market existed… Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out when I see some of the stuff people are finding there, but when I see things like this I feel a little more relieved.

Yes! Please post it. I'll call the SOB a couple times in the middle of the night, and would encourage others to do the same.

This is a subsection away from Marketplace...doesn't mean there's not scammers on Marketplace proper, they can just as well be on Craigslist or the Hamb...at the end of the day it's nice to send a message and get a legitimate, honest person just willing to make a deal.

I guess the silver lining in this is even though the pricks hijacked John's ad the ones being ripped off should it happen won't be showing up at his place to collect the cab. At least that's what I'm assuming.

  14. When someone on here finds a "genuine" scam , I reckon that if enough of us send them messages asking for Henweigh parts, or VW beetle radiators, (and ask them for pictures of course), and then get our "buddy" who just happens to live in the same area, and will pay cash for it, etc, it will keep them occupied for most of the day- they are experts in wasting people's money, so we should become experts in wasting their time.

I reported a few scams to FB market place and they did nothing .
One supposedly a gal had about 5 million in cars all muscle cars , high performance stuff, boats all jsut listed. Sure ill take that 57 Fuely Vette that is perfect for $20,000 were do I send the money? Face book replied but it was basically a blow off .

A few weeks later a different person listing the exact same stuff in about 50 different places .

If I cant drive to it and pay cash and take it im not buying it and I never give any personal info .

  17. It doesn't matter. I have asked for more pictures of a 32 grille that was $300, and they sent me a picture of a Mustang hood. They don't know what they are selling, and just send anything car-related to see if you are as stupid as them. If you do play this game, be very vague and ask them anything you can think of- (what is a Paypal? -My bank won't let me send South African Rands- Do you accept gold bullion, ect) . Some get very upset and put a voodoo curse on you!!
