  1. That's up our alley. Similar basic look starting out will be same one flat black on 15" wheels and not quite as low. We don't have the option of cutting the original column as that went to a guy five years ago that was building a 28 Dodge on an 85 k10 frame lol. I figure I'll build a column for it.... always kinda wanted to build one

  2. My vote is to put the 283 in right off the bat, it's basically the same hp and tq as the 4.3 and you won't be doing things twice by later converting it to V8.
With the 3.42 gears it should be a good all around driver for her.

  3. It'll likely be a 305 starting out. Basically all the v8 stuff will be in place and should she lunch it it's just a 305. Like I said I'll detune it with low compression heads and locked out secondaries. I have a set of 461 heads going on the 350 in my 53 so I'll have the low mileage 882 heads coming off. So I'll just slap some new Valve seals in and slap them on her engine

  4. Basically when I started pricing donor chassis and ready to run 4.3s I found people waned stupid money for a high mileage 4.3. and having messed with a lot of s10s over the years I know there's really not an mpg advantage of a 4.3 over a well tuned 305. And like I said earlier she wants stacks so eight cylinders will sound better through those even if it small low compression cylinders lol

  5. So I guess I'll make a list of parts we currently have for the project.
    Steering wheel
    Seats
    Valve covers
    Air filter
    Stereo
    Hubcaps
    Rear end
    Alternator bracket
Short list but that'll be $900 we don't have to spend lol

  6. Stereo is going to be a good chunk.........gotta have music.

  7. I always have oddball stereo equipment laying around lol. Also in her mother's hometown there's a drive in theater that took the posts out and just broadcasts over the radio. I'm sure she'll wanna go there lol

My friend opened up a drive in theater in Fremont Nebraska, they have cruise ins and play old hot rod movies a few time every summer. Be a fun trip

  9. Looks like Lincoln Nebraska is on the way too. Be able to stop in at speedway lol

No, the creature has to be a caricature of her self as a monster. That’s what would make it cool!

  11. Mebbe I can introduce her to @Tim and con him into designing one lol. He did an awesome job of doing a Sandy squirrel version of my wife lol

I’d think a rotted out AD truck could be sourced for the frame?
Obliviously get eyes on the frame, but sheet metal is the first to go.
Maybe other parts as well, front axle, hubs, steering column/box.
    One stop shopping.

  15. First things first . We gotta get the cab lol. And the flatbed will only be till we get far enough ahead on it to get a proper box for it.

    Be careful...girls like BLING!!!

Not a Pickup, but an AD Panel "grocery getter" I built for my wife a few years ago. Started out as a low-buck build...but her desire for more and more bling (chrome) nearly bankrupted me.

  20. That's honestly fairly close to the look in mind. Only she definitely wants a filled and peaked hood. Possibly also pancaked. And the bling can come after she establishes she can drive and not ding the bling lol

  21. So since I finally got home and got her approval on the scheme I'll post it here. Basically where this hot wheels is gold her truck will be flat black. Scallops will be an emerald green IMG_20250126_194416_HDR.jpg

Didn’t change the paint, and I refuse to raise a vehicle lol but I did make it a 3 window with full wheel covers. Added some 50’s style stacks, running boards and I put a shallow work box over the side of the frame and the blocks. Untitled_Artwork.jpeg just to get the jist

wonder if you could do a flatbed with stock truck fenders ?

  25. I've actually been tumbling ideas in my head on how to fit some stock fenders in there. So far what I've come up with is find some rear fenders bashed on top and run the bottom section

  27. I've gotta admit the urge to do something like this is very strong. Have to see how she drives first RC-Dream-Truck-1-of-3.jpg

That’s sorta what flatbed and fenders would look like. Untitled_Artwork.jpeg gotta be honest if I found fenders I’d just borrow a metal brake and make a bed from scratch. It’s not any more work that making a good looking flat bed
