  1. Hey, I am also in Oregon and would be interested in the Maverick rear axle if it's still for sale. Sorry you are giving up but believe me, I have been there! Thanks

If you can find a set of 2.50 gears for the original rear end and go back to the tried and true original equipment...a 25.4" tall tire and 2.50 gears will have you scooting down the interstate at 70mph and only revving 2300 RPM.

Dude I know on an OT forum had built a best of everything hot rod, TKX trans blah blah blah. Chased a vibration much like yours above 79mph. He changed everything 3x. He's a retired aircraft engineer (ME). Sharp mo fo. Same issue for legitimately 25 years. No solution. Other guys found stuff like bad u-joints, aftermarket mounts, ring gears with runout and a number of other causes to their vibrations. This dude? Keeps it below 79 mph. The old Ferd engineers knew a few things.

This is a great point, and it would probably chew up the tail shaft bushing. Might just need a slightly shorter driveshaft. Wonder if all three of the new ones were the same length.

Didn't OP say that at least one of the DS used stuck out twice as far as the other(s)? Like one was super short, only stuck out 1/2" the other an inch? I'd swear to it...

I went back and you are correct. Two of them were 52" and one was 52.5". I must have missed it the first time through.

I just remembered something that happened in the mid 1980's.

I once saw sparks come from a transmission yoke. Never saw it again.

It turned out to be a broken ground strap.

    Inspect your grounds.
