Technical Carb question

What are you using to chase the threads on fuel inlet and vacuum port on a Holley 94

 

The first thing I can think of is a "Ford Nut" with 3 or 4 "V" shaped grooves filed in it. The second is an application of JB Weld. The third is one of thes after re-tapping the carb body. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/GATG492300404

 

Best to acquire a bottoming tap of the correct thread.

Does a heli coil work in this situation if cleaning the thread doesn’t work ?

 

I would worry about fuel seeping past the outside of the Helicoil threads.

 

seal it w/ the old permatex-as long as you never need to remove!

 

Depending on the model of the carb, wouldn't it be easier to just find another carb body? These things are still around and except for some specific models, not that hard to find or expensive.

 

One of the carb experts on The Ford Barn says : "The threads are 3/8-24. It's not a tapered pipe thread."

what Charlie shows in the video above is what someone showed me years ago and what I have done, just hard to find the fittings down here.
The benefit is that you are not continuously disturbing the original thread.

 

Yes - that was my concern, but I have no actual experience with helicoils.
