A moonshiners color . Dark green in the daylight, looks black at night .

  2. Conveniently I painted the truck in the pic so not only do I know how it sprays out I also have the paint code lol

Well, Speedway Motors for the widest selection of aftermarket parts.

To get some color ideas, TPC has a pretty good site. Remember, each monitor shows a bit different.

You want to know what new parts can be had and cost, so you know what to pay for that rusty old one at the swap meet. This applies to speedway too. Try Jeg's and Summit to cross shop.

  4. It's also a custom order 1978 Ford color. Which meant Ford didn't put the code on the truck. Which resulted in a lot of fun trying to figure out the correct color lol

  5. Oh I just had a funny thought. We could build my spare th350 and use it. Then she could honestly brag about her truck having a Corvette transmission lol. It legitimately was originally from a Corvette.... though an anemic disc Vette. Transmission popped up because the donor ended up getting a stroker big block and a t56. Guy that built it actually still has the original block that I could probably get cheap. But needs totally redone. The step between original and big block they built the original 350 into a 383 and super t10 swapped it. Then spun every bearing in the block. I got the th350 and the Edelbrock intake on my 53 in trade for a snap on breaker bar. So I could probably get the engine cheap lol. The th350 was supposed to be good but after pulling the pan and finding an inch of silt I wouldn't trust it

What year is that cab? I see it is 50 or older, but thinking 47 not seeing a fuel fill where I would expect it?

  8. It is a 2.5 ton truck. So that could be reasoning on the filler. Otherwise like I said I'm not sure. Owner doesn't even know lol.

  11. Once upon a time I'd considered building it for myself. But about the time I was getting ready to be able to potentially get it my 53 popped up. And I'm more of a car guy lol

I may sound like a broken record and no shade to you, pope, but Carter Auto Restyling on the tube has been doing a chevy truck build for a year. It's not stock, but he talks about the way these were made and fixes before he modifys. Guy shows metal work with basic tools. Aside from teaching The Creature a more strange humor, it should be educational.

  14. Her MORE strange? Scary thought lol. All down for her learning stuff though.

Just don't let any Louisiana Lap welds creep into the build and you'll be fine.

  16. I'll be doing all the welding. At least any that aren't structural. So no promises lol. Anything structural my brother in law will do ......I've yet to find anyone that can weld like that dude lol

  19. Ok I actually got through the video. The section on the fender reminded me certain types of "tobacco" that operating a forklift after is ill advised are legal in Canada lol. I subscribed lol

That cab appears to be in remarkably good condition. I'm surmising that on large trucks the gas tank was "saddle tank" style, more-or-less. Not having the gas tank behind the seat isn't necessarily a bad thing and some folks say it's a good thing to have it somewhere else. I'm sure you can think of dozens of alternatives to inside the cab. If, as you say, you're going to put a flatbed on this truck the gas tank location possibilities are almost endless.

  21. Like I said it's in Arkansas where they only recently started salting the roads. And it's been over a decade since this truck has touched pavement. It will likely have a flatbed starting out but only till we find a bed can both like and can afford.

I’m sure you’ve thought of this but watch yard sales , FB ads and look at backyards as you drive around. Those beds were made into trailers . I’ve seen a couple still being used around here

  25. I actually use to own a 48 Chevy bed off a trailer. Back in 08 I was trying to piece together a 29 rpu. Guy I was friends with that owned a body shop and junkyard got the trailer in and gave it to me when I asked how much he wanted for it. It even came with a 48 Ford tail gate lol. I shortened it and sectioned the tailgate and made a different front panel from 1" square tubing, 3/8" rod and plate and built a battery tray. Actually looked like a smooth side early Ford bed when done. Tornado that blew through Arkansas in 08 blew it away though and I didn't think to file with fema

Dang tornados. Stuff on the shelves in my house disappeared when the roof was removed by a tornado one night .
A late friend of mine ran a body shop in Arc City KS . One summer some friends of his from California came to visit and hang out . One Thursday morning one of the guys brought up the subject of tornados . Jeff replied o yes they just drop out of the sky all the time . People, houses , barns and animals just get ****ed up and disappear. Which freaked out the guys from California. Arc City tests the town’s tornado sirens Thursday at noon . At 12:00 the sirens went to howling. The visitors asked what’s going on. Jeff yells it a tornado. They ask what do we do ? He replied run and takes off running out the shop door heading north up the sidewalk. The visitors run past him not knowing where to go or what was happening. Jeff burst out laughing and stopped running. Then the visitors realized that they had been pranked a few choice words were said .

  28. Have no fear. @The Creature will learn how to do a proper burnout. Though I'm more on rolling Smokey burnouts lol

  29. Starting on a 1/25 scale of what were doing using a two year stalled kit since they didn't have a new one in stock. First step after teardown is convert from five to three window. Shaved corner windows with heavy glue. Then black paint. Then more glue and paint lol. When dried I'll wet sand with 400 IMG_20250201_181123_HDR.jpg IMG_20250201_183041_HDR.jpg IMG_20250201_183445.jpg

Be careful what you teach her. I thought the previous post said “she drove her car ******* in all kinds of weather”. While that might be my kind of gal, I don’t think you want creature doing anything of the sorts. Burnouts are over rated. If a car can’t do one then be concerned. Otherwise save the money you would be wasting on tires and buy more go fast parts.
