I hesitate to pull the trigger on this one because I'm sure some of you guys will make me 'Put up or shut up' But here goes. I've recently discovered a thing called the 24-Hour model car build. I haven't found any concrete rules yet but, it's an online contest during the 24 hours of Daytona race where you have to build a model car from start to finish in 24 hours. You do status updates (online) every hour or so during your build then submit a final video for judging This would be fun for you guys in the "Sunday Models" thread. We could keep it period correct or have an O/T class as well. To make it easy you could do updates right here on the H.A.M.B so you wouldn't have to worry about learning the whole YouTube thing, I myself haven't built a model car in 30+ years so we could have a Box stock class as well as others like custom, and vintage drag would probably be popular. It could be judged by the mods or even @Ryan himself might do it. What does ye think?

Don't do models anymore, but love the idea. Would be awesome to see what others can do in plastic.

I'll one up 'ya! I see real hot rods built in lapse getting done in 20 minutes on YT! LOL

But what about building a real hot rod? You need a body and frame to enter, you get 1 month.

Rated on how true they are to the hot rod name.;) Or voted on by the members here at the H.A.M.B.

How's about we do this in the off topic section of the forum????..... That way we could build muscle car models or whatever cars people want...

Well, that's what I was thinking. So, I put it in the "Antiquated" forum because I didn't think it fit the regular board. Maybe one of the mods can move it there.

no. let's leave it here and not mix apples & peaches.

24 hour build with a cut-off date (needs a vote = quick! say 1960?) for wheels / engine/ speed equipment

and post a picture of your entry before the start date.

24 hours on one project, that would be a challenge, while watching the Daytona 500, impossible.

Ok, the 24 HOURS of Daytona, the race I've never watched. Thank you for the correction. Do we have to start with an UNOPENED kit or can we start with a pile of AMT parts we haven't touched since 1966?

Sounds like this is a contest for cell phone owners only, would have been a fun event.

Won the contest in the local Boy's Club two years in a row, then they bumped me up to judging it in 1966. Still have a stack of unfinished kits. Just like the full size projects now.
