Yep, that's a Cheetah. Made to kill Cobras....I'm a Ford guy at heart, but I think those are even cooler. The more out of control and deadly nature of them just make them even more badass.

If that’s a Cheetah I’ll eat my Rodder’s Journal hat. That is a really poor reproduction by Fiberglass Trends.

I woke up this morning with a vision of building a sports car drag car around these wheels.

Cheetah's are going to be insanely priced IF I can even find one. Time to set my sights lower.

  12. That little Honda S800 coupe looks cool, might be warm inside. Functional doors though.

I believe that Fiberglass Trends reproduced Cheetah bodies, many made into drag cars usually modified sports and funnies! IMG_3894.jpeg

It would be a needle in a haystack, and it just squeaks under the 65 limit.
You would have to find a body that the restorers shudder to contemplate, too.
But the sports car that is tiny, light and has the proportions for me is the TVR Griffith.

  18. Fiberglass Trends did the later production bodies for the Cheetah. Contemporary Fiberglass did the earlier ones. All of the production Cheetahs were glass. The one in the first picture has a "reverse chop" to accommodate the roll cage, Makes it goofy looking.

Find a basket case e-type . Series 3 cars are a bit bigger then the series 1-2 cars , also “ less-ish desirable” to restorers .

always wanted to build one with a 327 screamer and a 4 speed with side pipes .

But here I am with steak and lobster dreams on a peanut butter budget !:D

Fiberlass Trends GTR. It was a replica body of the Bill Thomas Cheetah, to be used by the drag car builders. No telling how many were built, but a heck of a lot cheaper than a real Cheetah.

    A La Dawri Sports Car

    Hello,

At one time, one of our close friends were building a powerful SBC powered sport car for the drags. Another of our friends, had just built and raced his red 40 Willys Coupe at the local drags, just down the street from the sports car build. So, the draw was to build something no one else had done to this time in the neighborhood. Gas coupes, two, altered, one, sports car: zero, so, the sports car it was.

A local La Dawri sports car body was selected. It was simple. The manufacture of the La Dawri sports car body also sold complete cars and a lot of parts to finish off a parts car. We did know it was located in the industrial shop area near Mickey Thompson’s Shop and they had complete cars, as well as a parts bin/warehouse for all thing La Dawri.

It was a good platform to complete a chassis/running gear for daily street use. It was larger than the popular MGA and Triumph sporty cars, plus it could hold an SBC motor in place, well. Later on, the company moved to a larger facility as their inventory grew along with what they now offered to the general public.

A customized La Dawri sporty car for daily use, no A/C necessary…YRMV
