I think "too tall" Pat Ganahl has secured his spot on the Hot Rod mountain memorial. He probably influenced a lot of us with his writings and his love affair of the American Hot Rod.

 

I did not know that. With that information, I’ll remove my nomination.

 

He's still part of automotive history lol.... most of the "famous" car "builders" I've met have been stuck up snob assholes. Chip Foose is the only one I've met in person that acted normal. Lesser of 2 evils. I agree with @hotrodjack33

There are some great nominees here but my top pick would be Ed Winfield, born around the turn of the last century. Even though he only had a limited education at a local technical school Ed brought us performance carburetors, camshafts, cylinder heads and he played a large part in the creation of what became known as the Novi engine. Winfield was almost reclusive in later life but he was a humble genius still producing advancements into the 1970’s.
