anyone remember the Johan series of cars which had the inside of the transparent body metalflaked

so they could be painted with somewhat predictable results? (early - mid '60s)

  2. This is where I got all my Johan models.

love the Renault Dauphine - beep! beep!

  4. An update of a little progress of my Monogram models. These are now a bit more presentable since pulling them out of the boxes they were in.
Most of the work was repairing and reattaching the windshield frames. Others needed the headlights to be reattached. Some also had broken axles. They still need more work to finish them if I can find the various missing parts.

I remember a similar offering from Revell but not Jo-Han. It would be interesting to see one.

  7. Those were made by Revell and were called “Metalflake Show Car Series”.
Here’s an example of one of them.

I got this with a bunch of parts and does not look like it was finished,it's a Revell 56 F 100 with the rear of a Revell 57 Ranchero. I think.I have found head lights and a grille that will work might have to graft a different front suspension as the front of the frame is messed up IMG_20250209_120534971.jpg IMG_20250209_094238931.jpg

Here is my version of the box art from a early 60s AMT 40 Ford coupe, used the sedan fenders so I can make it a standard. The body, fenders and interior are from the 60s, think ing about building the race version soon. IMG_20250209_154117793.jpg

Once again, credit goes to my friend Jeff for the Bare Metal Foil work .... he sure does nice work.
Now, to pick the next one. Galaxie '48 fastback Chev ? Or 1st issue AMT 5w '32, chopped & channeled w/ full fenders ?

Just need some trimming and smoothing here and there. I am doing it in modules so it will come apart into two parts for easier handling. Next time I have walls off, I will take pic of how the bases join together.
There are a lot of details that can be done to the building, ie. opening doors, bathroom, wiring, etc. But I am not going to spend time on that. Bathroom area will probably house batteries and what not for any lights I install.
After bldg is done, painted, assembled and weathered; I will work on tools and equipment. Then down to real business, building Gassers and some AWB (early funny cars). Name on Garage will be JOE'S GASSERS or something to that effect. Anyway, for now a couple of pics.

First bay will have single post that comes with kit. Second bay, I am trying to find 4 post drive on or might use a 2 post that I already have. Trying to keep it old style as much as possible. Third bay will be wash/misc. work area.
