Striking copper miners in Ducktown, Tennessee picketing the company store while waiting for scabs/strikebreakers to arrive for the day shift. Photograph taken in September 1939.
I don't remember ever seeing a Checker with that grill. Like Yellow Cab Co., there was a Checker Cab Co. in almost every town. In my youth I was surprised to learn that "Checker" actually manufactured cars designed for cabs.
Check out the 2 guys standing on the cross arms. Is it crazy to assume the fire annealed those wires, causing them to sag? The amount of wires IS crazy
Sign says "scab is worse than a dog, are you a dog"? I'll bet he kicks his dog for no reason when he gets home. Ignorance is bliss.
That's great info, but having been to "the Mountain" many times,I can't place where that start line might be.Unless the pic. is reversed? Having said that,I only first attended the great race in 1969.
Thank You,all nurses. To me,the most honourable profession ever. I speak from long experience(at their tender mercy's) and am only saddened to see the immense pressure they are working under today;all due to our stinking politicians.
