when we welded on the brackets and spring perches, it was just a 46 banjo rear from a truck. The shackles were close to the desired 45 degree angle. Then I went and ruined everything. I added a winters quick change center section to the banjo bells. Turns out the new center was a good 3/8 of an inch wider, had to turn a 3/8 spacer to get the proper back lash. So now I no longer have the desired 45 degree angle on the shackles. Do you think the suspension will work still?
surely the spring will flatten out some when you put the body on it. Have a couple of people stand on the rear of the frame and see
the shocks are way too far inboard to do much anyways, I wouldn't worry about a slight change in angle.
Yep, longer shackles will drop it back down to where it was with the narrow rear end. About an inch going by the pic. Good idea to load the frame up to somewhere near finished weight before making any changes. It might be ok as it is. If it does need longer shackles to get 45 degrees, do it with the frame loaded.
You know what they say about fat chick's ?! They are like mopeds, fun to ride but you still don't want your friends seeing you on them !! ...BTW I agree with the above, wait until you have it together THEN worry about it, I would bet the weight you install ( minus the fat chicks) will probably put you close to where you need to be..... ...
Leave it alone, the desired 45° angle is a myth. As the suspension compresses the spring will arc outward [wider] The easy way out is to leave it alone, It works better that way. On early speedway cars they ran them that way for lateral stability
I'd finish building it, put 500 miles on it and call me in the morning. Or text. Actually, I don't really need feedback.
