I used machinist fatigue floor mat in my RPU as well as in the bed. Started with 20 gauge sheet material, pressed floor foot pockets, glued the matting and painted the tunnel and surrounding area.
I used that floor runner material in my truck and the smell of rubber is still thick,,,3 years later the odour has not dissipated.
The roll I bought smelled pretty bad when I first opened it up. I scrubbed it with Dawn and a brush before putting it in my car. Smell went away after a good scrubbing.
Dennis Carpenter. They offer the flooring with and without holes. Really lays down nice. It required trimming at the top of the transmission tunnel to get rid of some gapping but a box knife and spat adhesive fixed that.
Never got back. The Zoro 3/16th mat has been in my daily driver deuce pickup since last year early summer and is holding up quite well. It's not glued down and is just laying on top of some Dyna Mat, doesn't move.
Dynamat has a product called Dynadeck that has a textured vinyl top layer with insulating layers below that's intended exactly for this purpose. It's a bit expensive and I haven't tried it yet, but it seems cool.
I found some ribbed rubber mats at McMaster Carr that matched the original door inserts on another car I owned. They were a good match, and went in nice with contact cement.
