I don't recognize the make of that, but it looks like the pot metal quick chrome stuff.
Take the time to coat every thread into it with copper coat or anti-sieze.

 

I would be concerned that a chrome fuel pump would be so fast that it would flood the carbs.

 

Nope. "If it don't go--Chrome it." So according the traditional hot rod wisdom a chrome fuel pump pumps less.

 

I hope the benefit for Yama went well, that was really nice of you to put on that event, Joey…

 

This looks suspiciously like a modern "Push connect" type fitting. Even the threaded part looks typical of straight thread vs. (taper) pipe thread.

 

Hey Joey, GREAT progress man! Lovin how that's looking. If you want them, I've got a couple of old brass fittings that might work to replace that Q connect on the fuel pump. The smaller one is in good shape, and I think it's the correct thread. The larger barbed one has some damage to the hex area.

 

Just a suggestion, Ford fuel pumps and carburetors have straight cut fittings, the inlet uses a flex line, with a taper that seats at the bottom. The outlet uses a straight thread with a ferrule to seal.
After market fuel blocks use the tapered thread or pipe fittings. The fitting that Joey has there should be alright. I don’t know where you can find a straight thread fitting with the tapered end today, all the speed shops used to carry this stuff. I’m sure someone on the H.A.M.B. knows where to acquire one.

 

There you go, you need that first one with the straight thread Joey, and thanks Jeff….

 

Thats why I harvest every single brass fuel fitting I can and stick em in a can!

 

And remember to use the "beaded" type fittings, not the "barbed" ones that often tear the hose when disconnected.
Stock hose fittings are almost always the former, for that reason.

The best way to deal with those hard-to-find fittings is to get some brass bar stock and something like this:

 

The guy is trying to build a hot rod, not start up a fully equipped machine shop!

I've been feeling the same way. Thanks for the reenforcement!

 

My Dad gave me his South Bend lathe that I grew up using. Occasionally he'd ask me if I ever used it. " Every time I'm in the shop!!!! ". I would be lost without it.

 

I've been using a lathe since I got hooked in high school metal shop. I bought a 9" Southbend right out of college and then bought and sold various lathes to work my way up to a 14x40 gear head lathe. I'd be lost building a car with out a lathe...

 

I’m assuming that Joey has a friend or two with lathes he can use. I think the only lathe like machine he would have room for in his work space is hand powered and sharpens pencils.

 

It would probably blow the old glass fuses in his house, too

 

I had a quick vision of him rolling the lathe out to the driveway on Dollie’s and running power from a light pole to run it lol
