So likely killed my new oil n filter,my new water wetter, wasted as well. along with a lot of hours,, Fan now flexing above 2000 rpm and hitting top tank of new rad. < was not doing it before getting super hot=must of made the plastic soft it was made from..Was big deal to fit new rad in,as not same as old one that got two leaks{ Alum so I can't fix them my self { Who can fix alum rad's,?,,,So old rad could of been a back up! Pretty much two weeks n too many $$$ wasted= nothing fixed. Not going to car show after all. Was really trying, but I failed. [IMG]. I'll look a little closer maybe sunday or monday..

Just to show my ignorance, isn't the bar suppose to be level before the bend? How does that bar in its current position, not shift the rear axle side to side as the suspension travels up and down?

After some thought, maybe the bar is level with the body on the frame? Would that eliminate most of the bind as well?

I can see the heim joint on that end, it's the other end I am not seeing and if there is one the orientation is not the best to make it work IMHO

The suspension isn’t under full compression so the panhard arm looks like it’s in a bind at the housing. IMG_3943.jpeg

You’ll get it! If it was easy Monkeys would be building hot rods!

@enloe - looking good! The guys in your one pic made me laugh. This is the time of year when some people wear shorts and some are in winter coats! I'd be in the coat category until it's 60 degrees.

Hey guys. Thanks for weighing in. There is a 3/4" heim on both sides of the panhard bar. I did not build the chassis; someone had started this project prior to me buying it. Still physics are physics.

Given that, I am not worried, nor do I see a potential for bind in its current layout. There is not much vertical movement of the suspension. Once the body is on and the car is at curb weight, the initial drive will be the tell-all. If I have to build a new panhard bar, so be it. Those are small potatoes.

The rear wheels are 15x10 Halibrands. The tires are 285/70-15 BFG's

Why would they put the mount on the rear end housing horizontal instead of vertical. It makes no sense since the rear end moves up and down. It can't help but bind. Bad engineering.

Maybe this will ease your anxiety. Multiply the offset you see here by the length of the track bar. IMG_3944.jpeg

I always assumed the movement in a heim joint in that plane was mainly for misalignment not active movement or load.

Too fine a margin of error to bottoming out and levering the threaded section off the joint for my tastes.

My Newport wiper kit got here yesterday afternoon. With a lot of help from my daughter Alyn, my ever-patient gofer, it's in, wired up and working. Man, those things are quiet.

Sunday went to a good friends to lend a hand installing the fenders on his MGA and help him celebrate his birthday.

Installing urethane body mounts on my 62 Biscayne. Of course two of the eight spun the cage nuts. They were no match for my cut-off wheel, lol.

I see you stepped up for the secondary bases Anthony!
How do the carb bases line up to the intake?
By the way, your flange welding mods look good!

Only thing that’s not to my liking is the square head pipe plug . Square plugs are for plumbers , hex plugs are for hot rods . Just my 2 cents

  25. There’s a reason only 3 bolts are in the bases.
One hole is just enough off to cause an issue. Probably less than a 32nd
Thanks. The flange looks ok. Hasn’t had the gasket surface milled yet though.

It’s getting replaced. I don’t like em either.

Visited the 62 Biscayne project again today. Didn't get much done as we seem to find that anything we get started on we don't have all the bets to pull it off. I did get the cam plug in and the pilot bushing replaced.

  28. I'm just beginning wiring, using a Rebel Wire 9+3. First I've done what I'm sure of what I'm doing. Next comes the things I think I know what I'm doing. After that, I'm wandering into the wilderness and keeping the tech line number at Rebel Wire close by. I've been studying several wiring diagrams in hopes of figuring out the rest of the rat's nest.

  29. I used that kit in my Henry J, compared to Painless the Rebel instructions are lacking, I referenced my Painless instructions to get through it though.
