How long did you leave them in the solution?

Geesh, maybe a week and a half? Was kinda a week mix, so just let it sit and swished the pail around every few days.

We posted about the same time.
I’m thinking about a week and a half.

Just sitting in a cold water container. Outside, was a bit weaker than suggested. I think about 1/2 cup per gallon of water, maybe a bit more CA as I dumped the last of the bag in.

Yeah 1 cup to gallon is usually strong enough to do that in a day or two. Take it out every 12 or so hours and wipe the sluff off and check on it. Works great and is safe to dump

  12. Thanks guys. I use it often enough for basic Ferrous parts, but wondered about chrome items. Didn't think there would be an issue, now I know. The proof is right here.

I find it helpful to take out the item and brush off what you can (every few days) and put it back in

I've drug home some pretty nasty rusty parts, only to hope they could be saved. Citric acid is my first go-to for soaking. Soak for 24 hrs, rinse, dry, wire brush... repeat 3 times. I have all types of wire brush, down to dremel size. Really stubborn rust, I will use muriatic, then neutralize with baking soda/water rinse. Evaporust works, just cost more than the citric acid crystals. I realize these are not chrome parts, but the citric solution does work on rust, chrome or not. 20250215_171621 (1).jpg thumbnail - 2025-03-25T214724.853.jpg thumbnail - 2025-03-25T214731.746.jpg thumbnail - 2025-03-25T214741.224.jpg thumbnail - 2025-03-25T214747.718.jpg thumbnail - 2025-03-25T214756.822.jpg thumbnail.jpg 20250315_185436.jpg
