I think the news was announced in November, so you're kind of late to the party...
Recently, the former hosts of the various shows have been posting videos about they've been buying the project cars from Discovery and bringing them home. They were all stored in a warehouse somewhere in the L.A. area, it was interesting to see how many cars there were, stockpiled from over the years - they'd apparently feature a car for a couple episodes of the TV show and then just put it away.

Cast YouTube from your phone to the TV.
    Put on some Meltdown Drags.
    Turn up the volume.
    Much better.

That's not accurate. The last season of Roadkill has aired. The last season of Roadworthy Rescues just finished. They still have a full season of Hot Rod Garage, Roadkill Garage, and Faster with Newbern and Cotten to air.

Hot Rod Magazine and Motor Trend magazine are unrelated to this change in the video content. They are no longer owned by the same parent company either. Print is in decline but any business decision to get rid of it is unrelated to this.

    Now you're talking!
What they do on Engine Masters, or Junkyard Gold is worth watching, and I enjoy both of those shows. Not like what was done on Roadkill, or a couple others that just bored me to tears.

All the bench racing stuff that old guys have always said that you might think "that sounds like BS", engine masters tests all those theories. It's engine science for car guys, it was great.

    That was kinda cool

A few years ago we purchased a Samsung TV and discovered that the new Samsung TV's come with free Samsung Plus television channels! We get about 500 channels with zero subscriptions! Just need internet in your home which we probably all have if we use it to look here. It has a huge number of specialty channels for car stuff, including the NHRA channel, Motor Trend Channel, Power Nation, etc., etc. Plus sports channels, western channels, crime channels, movie channels, etc. All free, but only maybe a few dozen that are live channels. Many are reruns of older stuff shown live before. Like the MHRA channel is usually 6 months to a year old when shown, but often show Nationals from the early 60's to 70's and 80's also.
We canceled our cable TV after getting the Samsung and are saving a bunch, plus having more TV than we had with our cable.

Vice Grip Garage on Youtube was better before he went on Motortrend. I watch the reruns on Prime sometimes of all the shows, but mostly use the Roku channel for Motortrend and for PowerNation. Sure, there's commercials and you can't choose what episode to watch, but that's how it always was. Plus it's free

I've favored YouTube over the other iterations all along. I watched the early episodes of RoadKill on YT before the MotorTrend Channel transition. I try to avoid subscriptions so I never saw a single episode of anything on MotorTrend. Maybe it's curmudgeons like me that ended the M/T era.
I still prowl YT for good car content. From the ridiculous but funny "Zip Ties and Bias Plys" to the sublime "Simon Fordman". I learned about VGG on Zip Ties years ago and have wasted too much time on those channels.
Do try this fella. Simon has the opposite approach to the guy who talks nonstop and doesn't show any work. He only shows the work. Doesn't say a single word and is a fine shooter/editor. He cranks 'em out. His biggest vidya has over 7 million views - in it he drags a 62 Galaxie out of a field. The headers and other mods indicate it was an old hot rodded sedan. Try it.

One reason I liked Roadkill is because I got to be there in a few episodes. Kinda makes it personal.

But that is about the only automotive show that I wanted to watch a lot of the episodes. Not all of them though.

It's still more fun to go have my own adventures.

I'm in a couple of Freiburger's later videos, too. Strange how that happens.

Too good, was just watching the Winternationals qualifying on FSN, and Freiburger has got him a job interviewing some of the racers.

    Hey @34 5W Paul
Thanks from Dennis, for posting this amazing video.
Right from the start, I was hooked.
The second video was equally entertaining.
Gotta love this kids style of wrenching and trouble shooting, and minimal repair, as he tackles various problems. The kid is fearless, and not afraid to tackle the hard stuff.
He shoots very well, and his editing is spot on.
The Ren and Stimpy shirt he was wearing, identify him as a kindred tribe I can relate to. The one side profile of him resembled the young Pete Townsend from the WHO, and his kick ass attack on the front bumper with the sledge hammer and wood blocks, reminded me of how Pete would sometimes destroy his guitars sometimes.
The skate board, and the old style boots he wears, all memories from my past as well.
The most important part of both videos, was his silence, and to me, I actually learned a few things as well.
I really loved the 65 Ford that he has, with the out of order tape on the original shift lever, my grandfather had a cool 65 Ford 4 door galaxy.
The petting of the red tabby cat at the end of the videos, I get that, I have a red tabby cat as well!
    Bravo "Simon Fordman"

Viewership numbers did not do this.

Viewers did not buy enough of what is being sold in the commercials.
