We had Otters and Beavers in Viet Nam. Pretty cool planes.
I rode in an Otter once. We were landing in the wind sideways. I could see the runway looking over my left shoulder.

 

Another really spoiled brat.

 

Fallout shelters were everywhere. Some places blasted air raid sirens at noon everyday.
The cold war was a very scary time. We had alerts during school. We had to duck and cover under our desks.
Slogans like "better dead than red" others said "better red than dead".
The Cuban Missile Crisis period was the most tense.
