Hi all, I just want to post this here in case anybody has seen this tailgate. It was shipped by Fed Ex from Chris Swenson to me in Michigan and it never made it past Illinois. They have closed the case on it. I am fighting to reopen a new case. It went missing on the 1st-2nd of this month and was wrapped in a bicycle box. It is for a very important, historical vehicle here in Michigan. Any help matters! Thanks.
That sucks. Bit late now but why is,nt the box covered in remnants of duct tape or any other sort of secure method of sealing. btw, allways better to write all the postage details as well in permanent marker on the actual part with this kind of shipment.
Chris sent it in this type of box. The box is not the actual box. Unfortunately we do not have pics of it boxed up. Anybody see this floating around for sale or anything please pm me asap.
Sounds like FedX, they pulled in my driveway around 5 pm and tossed out a package and drove off. I looked at the address and it was 15 miles away.
It looks like a 1965/1966 tailgate, finding one in good condition without rust or major dents isn't easy but they're still out there (for a price.)
I have a similar problem with the USPS; for some reason I'm always getting my neighbors mail, and they live several houses down the road from me.
Yes it is a 65-66. Took me over a month to find it for my customer. Very hard tailgate to find. Chris said it was one of the best he has seen.
I am getting nowhere with Fed Ex. Every number I call routes me over seas to somebody that says it is lost and all I can do is file a claim. I don’t accept that but I can’t reach anybody in corporate.
No they didn’t. The 66 and earlier are different. The don’t have the reveal around ford and the top rib is different. They fit but are not the same.
I bet they find it - how much was it insured for? A buddy had a rear door for a fiberglass 32 Vicky delivery lost (phantom build, kinda neat but more of a street rod) - he had shipped it by truck freight (BOL) to the company that made the body originally for repairs - it was lost for months - the composite company that had made the body had moved on from hot rods and was making windmill blades....they had agreed to get the molds out and retool a new door for $$$$ - when faced with this, the freight company suddenly found it LOL - I had a similar issue once using fastenal (again, freight with BOL) and they "lost" a motor I was shipping - when they learned the value, someone searched until they found it......since your tailgate went fedex and was likely not insured for a lot, they have no real incentive to find it....get ahold of - or ask a Hamb'r to go to - the last know fed ex location it was at.....I bet it is still there somewhere - you just need to get someone to care enough to look for it....nothin better than an appeal in person
