That's cheap compared to here. Here's a standard from one of the large auction houses here: Internet Premium: 16% Sales Tax : 7.75% - Sales tax applied to invoice total, including Internet Premium. Yeah, they even add tax to the 16% fee!! I just bake this 25% surcharge into my bids (same as I would if I had to drive out of town to get something), so if I bid $100, I know I'm really bidding/paying $125. I'm sure some people get in deep when they buy high dollar items. I sometimes think that the auction houses make more money that the sellers. I hope Ryan gets the Screaming Banshee!!!
Less than a day to go, and most of the cars are cheaper than the zero turn mower- opportunity awaits…
First, last and only time I borrowed a car trailer was in summer of 1965. I was 13 years old and purchased my first car, a cut up 29 2-door sedan. Harold Looney had started Vintage Auto Parts in Santa Ana on 4th street and had a really beat car trailer. He let me borrow it to get the car home. Naturally my Dad did the driving. After that my Dad had a tilt bed trailer. Borrowed trailers are like borrowed chainsaws. Always come back damaged.
I made it really easy to say no. No matter what size, every trailer I've built for myself had a 2 5/16 coupler. That takes care of all the guys with the 1 7/8 and 2" balls.
The banshee was going pretty Reasonable. Hope Ryan got it. The 81vette went way too cheap. Hope mamma likes it. She hates my red car.
Some of the parts are sure going higher than I wanted to pay. Oh well, need to focus on other stuff anyway.
Anyone see what the Victress sold for? $16,250 I think is what the Deuce roadster project went for, that seems like a really good deal for someone, even after fees.
Been watching that. Auctions that add time after every bid do my head in but are good for the sellers.
Banshee still waiting but looks stalled at 5209.28. I did have to call and tell my wife I am taking a trip to Wisconsin in the next couple of days though...Oops...
Where are you at in Iowa. I will be making a trip up there as well. Where abouts are you in Iowa. I will be making the trip up there as well.
Yes, the dollar amounts disappear even on things you bidding on.,and to Snoc653, I am driving up from the very south east corner of Iowa. Looks like it’s going to be a little over six hour trip.
A lot of online auctions do that, they don't let you see the final bid value. But not all do, it's up to the auctioneer if they want to publish the results or not.
They usually show past auctions with the prices afterwards. Don't know how long they keep them up; but I've had to wait to the next day to see how "bad" I lost stuff when I wasn't able to follow an auction in real time.
I didn't think it would go that cheap, so I pulled the trigger on the Mercedes W196R streamliner inspired car with the body molds. It looks like 1948 or older Ford underpinnings and I have a bunch of stuff for that around.
Banshee did sell for the $5209 price. I did see that the mid engine roadster body, the blower, Weiand manifold and injectors all sold to the same buyer. he was bidding on the banshee and the 32 and ran them both up but lost those at the end. .
So will a flathead Ford powered Mercedes be traditional if it is based on a 1954 F1 car, or will it be an OT thing? Anyhow, I need to sell a couple things now...
That is so awesome! I would LOVE to see this car completed, it has great proportions and the potential to be amazing. I would really like to see updates once you get it, and as it gets built. I'm out of space and already have a sports car project in line, but this car was still tempting me. I didn't bid against you, but I sure wanted to.
Thanks for the update, I missed that one ending and was wondering. That was a super cool car too, and I agree, a bargain at that price.
These were the two pictures that intrigued me. Not sure what will be salvageable, but I guess I will find out.
The lot of license plates with the 1931/1932 Cuba plate is up to $575 right now. Nothing else really special in that lot, someone wants that for a '32 plate collection BAD I think.
