Hmmm. Somewhere I have a blank CTA timing tag. I think you know which “C”…

It's all yours -- saves the shipping cost. Give me a ring from somebody we both know.

With the construction pretty well done on my '29, I thought I might as well get it out in the natural light, so I could look at it one more time from all angles. I am getting ready to tear it apart for finish welding on the chassis, and off to Powdercoat. I plan to electroless nickel plate the ladder bars, front hairpins and other under car pieces. Also, Karl Petersen is going to paint some of the body parts including the hood and cowl, to match the old paint. It's down to cam selection for the 331 Chevy. Still lots to do, but I want to run it this Summer !

Any idea when your RPU will be ready to hit the dragstrip?

You may have seen this array of parts for my roadster, I'm really a fan of how electroless nickel looks, I hand prepped mine with Scotchbrite before sending it to the plater, has a soft satin finish.

Doug, open wheel oval guys have been using it for years, I do like the look ! As far as running it, I am banking on July. I would like to take it and the Banana to Bakersfield in October to run !

I thinks it’s perfect. My first hot rod was a 29 roadster pickup with a 322 Buick in it in 1958. Still love them today

Thank you my friends for the positive replies. You might get a kick out of my problem solving method. With the engine moved back and the Hurst Super Shifter on the Toploader, I needed to remove a section of the cross channel in the floor frame, so, I came up with this solution for support. I am going to have a thin, textured rubber mat covering the floor, so this tube will be bolted down on top of the rubber and exposed. It's a Race Car/Hotrod, not a Street Rod ! I do remember them, it a 2.78 1st gear Toploader, that I last shifted 50 years ago, in my Altered Roadster.

The story behind the ? Well, my favorite cat Dewey got out and he was out for 2 weeks, and I had a live trap set, hoping to catch him. I had a friend helping me with the tunnel cover and thought of Dewey's question mark tail, so that's what I did. I went home in the dark, checked the trap, and Dewey was in it. Here he is, in the foreground with his twin Huey ! IMG_7572.JPG

I love a cat story with a happy ending, we had cats in our younger years, after the last one died in the late 80's, my wife said, can we get a puppy so we are (small) dog people now.
Funny car/cat story, I put a four speed in our Nova in 1983, not long after, our kitten was missing overnight, seems the little guy could wiggle through the space around the shifter, found him sleeping in the front seat.

  25. 50Years! I thought I was the only one having good parts on the shelf turning into Antiques. I'm starting to feel a little more normal hanging around here.

OK Marty......I am very remiss in comments lately on all the unbelievable craftmanship of the builds you have going.....but the kittens get me every time !! I love the stories of prodigal cats and kittens returning from their travels. Way back in 2008, mom's favorite cat disappeared for several months. Two days after my brother's death from a sudden heart attack, we heard a meow at the back porch door......it was Sadie....all beat up and almost no hair on her tail. Our best guess is that she was hunting mice inside the header of a John Deere combine at the adjacent dealership. Farmer came to pick it up and she could not get out in time. We think she was at a farm about 10mi. away. Looked like her tail had an unpleasant interaction with some pulleys....rollers and V belts.
I would keep really close watch on these two kittens.....give them everything they ask for !!

Thanks again for everything you do to put a little joy in our days with roadsters.....old sports cars.....dragsters .....and felines.

Hey Buddy, I have 9 cats, 8 and the Mama, and 3 batches. You couldn’t get a Feral cat fixed during COVID. At one time I had 16 and was tied with master car builder Dan Webb. I had to stop feeding the Quail that numbered 80 !

I sure hope you got a Louie! Look forward to seeing the car in person. Still haven't got the new motor in the Willys but getting really close. Our fine staff, [my kid] was over last weekend diligently working on the brake upgrade. Glad you got your kitty back. You take care, John brks9.jpg
