It was nice, but it was painted Tan/Beige in the 80s. Back to the original (rare for Z/28s) Butternut Yellow..
Not yet, The nephew pulled the original engine out and brought it to a machine shop for a rebuild. They talked him into a replacement engine. The shop still has the engine and won’t sell it to me. But I’m working on it.
Subscribed. Might give me inspiration to get off my butt and get my X33 back on the road. Great start @badshifter!
I can't imagine anyone in their right mind painting a Z28 beige... what the hell? It is going to be soooo much better in butternut yellow. I had a 66 SS chevelle that color when I was a kid....
Engine thing happened to a Widow of a friend . He dropped off 69 DZ 302 out of 59 Vette . He passed during engine shop overhaul . She and a brother went picked up the newly overhauled engine installed it drove it to local cruise in . As soon as heard no solids I was suspicious . Raised the hood , cast iron QJet intake , really . Took the info . It was a 68 307 with 350 QJet . I looked at rebuild sheet it stated DZ302 and what was done $ 5500.00 . I went ballistic , went with her and her brother to question . Wasn’t much the dude could say but “ sorry I sent the wrong engine yours is on a stand right here . “ I was beyond pissed , about trying to switch it off on her and her Brother . She got the 302 back and installed . It is a hard ass engine in the Vette . She ask me what to do with the 307 engine . I told her call the Dude tell him the engine is at the Biker’s garage , you can pick it up . Guess what he never called back to pick it up . She sold it , and tried to give him the cash . He was like just keep it . I just hate a snake , once they shed their skin they only become a bigger snake to me. Only good one is a dead one , in my eyes .
Norwood , Ohio production . Suburb of Cincinnati . Cars would cross the Ohio River into Newport , Ky . . Very slowly travel down the middle of town . Unreal to see a train load of them goin down the street . There was a Midnight Auto Parts ring that would hop the train and pull what parts you purchased , toss them off and jump from the train to a waiting friend’s pickup truck . Pickup the parts and deliver to you . Happened many many times that I knew of . All most anything you wanted could be had . I never purchased on piece , I was a Ford nut . Plenty of 4 speeds , intakes and carbs were had .
Very cool, love the butternut yellow, never seen a 69 in that color, usually Daytona Yellow. Factory rear spoiler car or dealer added? makes a difference on the stipes.
