This mercury was his first personal custom he worked on.
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it speaks to me
    Some history
The red merc convert on page 1 (owned by the KC doctor) was Doug's first personal showcar in about '62. It did indeed have space pods on the roof (inspired by' Roth's Rotar). It had earlier been Doug's driver when he was a teenager (when he originally chopped it) and I do have a great black and white of that car in the 50's, with Doug posing next to it. If it's the same car it's been updated a LOT !

Don't know how original the seats and upholstery work is but the dash has all late model ford gages so I'd suspect that the dash and switch layout has been totally changed too but again I've seen pics of the original interior...

    All new model drivetrain too.

I assume that you own it now because it is your avatar? I am moving this away from the traditional customs forum (reserved for only the most period perfect 65 and older style builds) to the hokey ass message board.. whoever put those mirrors on it should have all of their tools taken away from them and put in handcuffs....

I haven’t bought this mercury yet but with the survivors I’ve had in the past I always bring them back too there glory days look.
I’m looking between this chopped radical custom and another chopped mercury convertible

    Radical custom for sure

  11. It would be great to see it with a chrome front bumper, along with the original headlights it ran.
