Just picked up a stock frame ‘28 roadster with a ‘46-48 59AB and the previous owner didn’t put a cooling fan on it. A 46-48 4 blade would just bolt on but I only have 6” of clearance from my gen mount to the rad, and by the looks of it the fan and second crank sheave won’t fit. It also looks like a later 3 blade would fit better but I’m not sure if the crank pulley or fan have enough off set to clear the distro. Should 46-48 fan fit? Or is a 3 blade gonna work ?Thank you in advance!

A picture of your engine to radiator relationship would be nice to see.

You just make fit what will work best with your situation, (allowing enough clearance for vibration and ch***is flexing).
Some one with exact same engine in a model A may know something that fits exactly, but his engine may be mounted an inch further back or lower down and by following his advice, it may still not work for you.
Not quite sure what you are referring to when you say second crank sheave, but ***uming that you are referring to a double pulley, maybe you can find a single pulley that works.

either way, that is a neat car, so feel free to post more photos for us to all appreciate………:)

I know that’s really the right answer but I’m just hoping someone could point me in the right direction…. Maybe even save some heart ache and a buck

from what I have seen, the different flathead fans through the years had different length spacers, a lot of variations.
Maybe asking on the ford barn will be helpful.
(although I thought you would have gotten more answers here)
    so, bttt……

tedx5, I don't mean to criticize your work, but you might want to use stock type radiator bolts and springs. You want your radiator to be able "flex" a little and not be solid mounted.

I'm not a flathead guy but I have seen a lot of them and don't see how you would fit a mechanical fan on that without hitting something. Electric might be your only option.

I didn’t do the swap so no need to hold back. I’ll look in to spring bolts, thank you.

I’m think I’ll have to move the rad forward a bit. I’ll flip the firewall before I put an E-fan on this car
