Easiest way is to pick a color you like on a modern car. That way, you see it in normal daylight, and the paint codes are everywhere.
That is great advice! Every once in a while a new car will just stop me in my tracks with the color combination. A Land Rover did it today, subtitle colors, but it looked so right.
I used to do that stuff, and I still can. Not simple photoshop color changes either. Full on hand drawn illustrations. The trouble i have is that people put no value on that kind of work. So I would ask, what is 20 to 30 hours worth of work worth these days?
I must be older that I think, when I read the title "Rendering" my first thought was Soap Making using the leftover unused bits from a butcher shop. I was the driver for home deliveries at a small grocery store while in High School, and there were 2-3 cans of scraps that were picked up once a week by the Rendering Shop.
I am in the same boat. Used to do to-scale renderings of body mods, wheels/tires and paint jobs. All by hand. Zero payoff. Tried transitioning to digital but it didn't have the same connection/feeling.
That also lets you see it at night under the lights. We looked long and hard before I chose the Porsche Indiana Red that is on my 48 in the avatar photo.
I worked at a high end furniture store many years ago - then at a high end art gallery in Tlaquepaque in Sedona. Interior design furniture and art was brought by those businesses and staged in rich folks homes so they could see what it would look like before they spent lots of money. “ Designers “ would basically tell those folks what they should like. Many years later things haven’t changed much - but the interweb now gives anyone with access the tools to design what they want. You need to invest your time to manifest your design … Jim
To the artists chiming in on this, I probably should have been clearer on that, I'm sorry. I didn't want to speak for others. The point of asking in a PM is so the two parties can come to some sort of agreement on what kind of work, the level and the cost. We can all offer opinions or experiences pretty freely thru the forum, but a commission of art should not be expected to be free. My Profile art was given freely by @41 GMC K-18 but I didn't ask or supply any input, it was gifted, which I remain grateful for.
I thought that there are plenty of picture threads on here to give you some inspiration……… But not really what you are asking ? or learn a little photoshop perhaps ? .
Hello, Who needs a full artwork drawing of your idea. There are too many options for your choice. But, the last effort online was a simple, fun 20 minutes. Post your selection on a Google Search and you will get a ton of photos of body colors and upholstery colors for a 33 ford 5 window coupe. We all have some form of design and different parameters for what looks good. I like a dark grey interior. but, it will show wear, due to the grey color and constant daily driving. My wife likes black for the simplicity of maintaining the overall look. Stuff, shows up on the seating surface area and gathers all over the black upholstery. So, more maintenance is necessary. First, your choice of a 33 ford 5 window is cool. I have ridden in a teenage 34 black Ford 5 window coupe with black upholstery for my formative years. That coupe was at our house almost weekly for the teenage hang out and gatherings. So, I was able to see all different styles of cars and got paid to do small things, like clean the tires, exchange the hubcaps from various models of cars, styles, etc. But over the years and three hot rods, cruisers and color combinations later, here is what I found out. Jnaki Black is the most difficult paint to maintain in a deep shine for daily use. From a 58 black Impala to a 34 coupe to a modern sporty car sedan. It was daily cleaning and weekly washings. Open the garage to do some work in the yard and your black car is now dirty. A black car with black leather upholstery is very cool. But, in the summer, without A/C, it is almost unbearable. The 58 Impala did not have black upholstery, but red. The windows came down to create a open hardtop for those hot summer days and nights. Contrasting upholstery for a black car is black first, and then grey. All other colors can be used as black is a basic background for any upholstery. For a roadster, tan is a great combo, but it shows lots of wear from Levis and women’s dark color pants rubbing off on the tan. Also, on grey, it shows easier than on other colors. Note: For outside color and maintenance, a pearl white paint fends off dust and grime better than any other color, overall. White is normally a get dirty first mode, but the pearl adds a distinct base that somehow allows the car to stay looking clean for longer periods, overall. A dark grey or any color of silver-grey range is also good due to the dirt not being able to stand out on those colors well. It stays cleaner better and gives you a base in which to choose a matching grey interior or some off shoot grey color range. or there is black upholstery, for simplicity... Comparing a red with a tan interior just does not cut it for daily driving as tan picks up almost every Levi tab, buckles or any other items that makes a mark on the surface. YRMV
