You could always paint the pipe black from the cut out down and that may hide the pipes a little more . Doesn't Spin Tech make oval pipes that can connect to round pipes. They used to have DIY kits as well, like under a stock car ? Still I'd drive it it's a super nice ride and it sounds sweet too! She ain't no trailer Queen for sure!!!

Yes it is! He still owns the Dawsonville Pool Room and volunteers at the GA Racing Hall of Fame that he started.

That show was at the HOF. He was there to present the trophies.

He’s also my grandfather. Here is a drawing I did of him the other day.

  12. I've had a lot of VW's with dual carbs. Love 48's. But, I would only run REAL Webers! Not that Chinese crap. But, that being said....if you like them, that's all that matters. lol
    PS- Headrests....really! haha

I’ll be honest man, these new EMPI 4.0’s are way better than anything that is out today, and sad to say, that includes brand new Webers. Really even the brand new $70 Amazon carbs are better than the new Webers. I’ve seen lots of quality issues with them.
Plus, I did get these for free from EMPI because they sponsored our videos. I do genuinely love them though.

  14. Good to know. It's been a long time since i've had a car with duals. I wanted to put a set up like yours on my Coupe. Love the sound they make at full throttle....New Webers are junk. Old, original ones are crazy expensive, too.

You got them for free, you can't dis the product. That would be major uncool. I have twin EMPI 48s on my VW dune buggy and I would love to trade them for a single edelbrock or holley. They look cool but they sure don't run cool. That isn't to say yours won't run great for years to come and I hope they do.

Personally, I like how the headrests look. Yep, purists will disagree and thats fine, but I think they actually give the interior a little pizazz..........:)

(Note, I'm not saying all headrests would look good, but these set low enough that I like them.)

Maybe, But the featured Roadster has an I beam, think the IDFS is about the four Weber carburetors.

Ok, we’re two pages in on this and I’m just gonna say it.
I’m still lost at how this thread is in the ‘Traditional Hot Rods’ section.
Fibreglass car with VW induction, and absolutely nothing there from 1932 right?

I think this 60's style is my favorite era for 32's. Maybe cuz that's when I was a little kid, and I first found my interest and excitement in hot rods. A few pics of my old roadster - this was running a built 355 with open headers:

I would be honest about them if they were crap. They wouldn’t still be there, that’s for sure. Not sure of your engine size, but 48’s may be a bit too much on there. You should grab a copy of our book and getting them purring like a kitten. https://amzn.to/4kPNMr8

IDF is model nomenclature for this type of Weber carburetor. IDF stands for Invertito or Inverted Downdraft Fiat.

It’s a traditional late 60’s style hot rod, fiberglass body’s came out in the 50’s, so technically yes. It’s not VW induction, it’s Weber induction if anything, which has been on many 60’s race cars, sports cars, and hot rods. However, EMPI is mostly a VW parts manufacturer.
