Well! a long time since I posted last time. There have not been any big work done on the car that have been much to show. Fixing a lot of small stuff to get it better and driveable. for example I changed the top because the on on the engine leaked exhaust fumes in to the cooling water. I now have a good one and the engine runns very cool, maybee a little to cool actually.
I have been working to get the car registred and to pass the swedish tech inspection. wich is now done!! so that is a BIG step on this jearney. The only thing that I had to modify was to but turning signals on it. That took some time for me since eletric stuff is my weakest point, and I also decided to not add any ney lights but to use brake lights and fog lights with double function = a lot of relays!

I have now started moving towards the next phase of the car, wich is turning it to an actual hot rod. I have a -39 engine that I have fired up and it sounds good and after some runtime and retorqueing of the heads I got okey and good compresion on all cylinders. Since I work slowly and don't have many houres a week to put in the garage I decided to not tear the engine down. but just fix it up lightly.
I have starded to take the engine apart somewhat and put a lot of time to strip old paint of. I have also started to take the 1940 rear axle apart. It will need a lot of rust removal, but hopfully it looks okey inside. The brakes dont look worn down, but have been sitting for a long time. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg 7.jpg

  2. You have a gem in the rough there Fjant. Before too long you will have a hot rod TV8. It is hard to manage work and a hobby in the U.S. also so don't get distracted by the length of time that it is taking. I find and hope that you do too that it is relaxing and something to take your mind off of everyday fast paced life.

  3. I love your T! If you are not careful, with a few more parts, you may find yourself building a second car!

    Go Fjant go!!!

How intense is the vehicle inspection process in Sweden? My understanding is that in much of Europe these cars are difficult to register for regular use.

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah I have learned that trying to get things done fast will only just get you stressed and depressed.

Yeah! I am thinking of getting another frame so I can build it up from the ground, since I still thinking of changing almost everything on it . And then I dont have to have a long period of time with the car all taken apart.

most of the countrys i Europe are harder or almost impossible for somerhing like hotrods. Sweden have fore some reson always had a very big and strong american car culture. And also good people that have worked hard to get god laws for this here. Since it is almost stock still the process was very easy. And since a couple of years ende finaly dont need to have fenders which have been one of the most frequent thing hot rods in sweden have gotten tickets fore earlier.
I can do a lot of rebuilding on the car, have it examend by a special organisation and then have them wouch for the state tech inspection.

Here are some pictures from the first summer with the jalopy street leagal. Not to much driving unfortunally. In the beginning of the summer I was driving the to the first hotrod meet with it an houre away, and about half way the water pump broke.
it took some time to get the car home, I have spent some time of the summer waiting for new pumps. The first one i got scammed of, the second did not hold more that ten minutes, but now finaly a week ago a finally got a god one in.
I also got some seatbelts in the front seats.

Looking great out there. Bummer about the water pump. It's worth buying one of the modern "leakless" pumps... I quickly got tired of the original pumps shenanigans

  10. I bet that is a hoot to drive....

    thanks for sharing
