Hello, When the Brooklyn Dodgers came to Los Angeles in 1958, our dad took us to watch a game at the Los Angeles Coliseum football field. (He was one of those portable radio to the ears listening to every baseball game currently on the channels. It was if the small portable radio was glued to his ears) The famous Coliseum was converted to an oddball baseball stadium with a high fence and short field to compensate for the unusual field design and set up. It was the largest stadium able to hold 90K people, but the baseball diamond was located in the “tunnel” end or West end. The first time, we were in the upper levels of the first base line. The players were tiny and we had to use binoculars to see their faces and jersey numbers. The second time our dad got some seats at a lower level close to the third base line and it was cold. The sun always disappeared fast as the tall Coliseum seating blocked any sun in the afternoon. Folks along the left field side were in the sun the whole game and were in short sleeves. We were wearing jackets. Jnaki The odd thing was, when we went to a college football game or the L.A. Rams home game on the same field, the West end of the football field was the third base line baseball dirt path and the football players caused a dust storm like the Peanuts character, Pigpen. It was not grass, but the same material as the third base line. The football games started in August and the Baseball field was still going into the October month if the baseball team went to the World Series. Talk about a real sandlot football game…ha ! YRMV
