Got the engine back into the car, had to re-adjust motor mounts and all fittings as the motor is 2" further back due to the blower beltdrive. Luckily all my guesswork was right, no big problems or tight spaces. After shortening the drive shaft I was able to test the car - lots of power! There is a bit extra noise from the beltdrive but only when the blower is working hard. When cruising there is almost nothing to hear. So far I am very happy! 20250521_101619.jpg 20250521_101630.jpg

Doing some upholstery. Now I know why I see a lot of seats that look like deflated tits. What a Royal pain in the ass this has been.

It’s a shame that you take nice material, wrinkle free, fresh off the roll, glue it to foam. Then have to wad it up, turn it inside out, roll it up, just to get it through the machine. It reminds me of the old Samsonite luggage commercial. The gorilla mangling the crap out of it. Just looking at it, adds some kind of blemish.

Well look at you throwing down some beautiful top stitches! I did a beautiful door panel with 1” pleats and when I stuck it on the door, it just enough radius to put a billion little wrinkles in it. This is an art that didn’t get enough respect in my opinion.

    That looks fantastic!
I finished up the seat kit for my 3100 today. Much better than it was, but I think very much in the deflated tit category. :)

  9. We're a long way from being able to do professional upholstery, but, when you want the trunk to have a finished look, you do what you can. So, clear off the kitchen counter... move over the bread machine... and go to town. :D

Picked up this insert from a bud that has since passed on. I’m hoping he likes what I did to it. It’s a repoper so don’t get too worked up. :p:p:p

  11. So last week I went to an auction here in Southern California and ended up winning a couple of flatheads...
They both had mercury heads on them and both were seized up solid but when I picked them up they were technically in a garage, So one of them broke loose with a breaker bar at about 2 minutes of work but there is a slight stiff spot... I haven't taken off its right cylinder head yet to inspect I did take the left side off because I wanted to measure the bore and low and behold it is a 4-in stroke Mercury engine just like the heads would have had me believe (That is a win!!!) So the second engine was a little more work it was also locked up solid It is a 1953 Mercury flathead It did not move at all with a breaker bar on it so I pulled the cylinder heads and filled up every cylinder that I could with cleaning vinegar and let it sit for a few days. At that point I ended up getting the engine too ever so slightly move and I went back and forth back and forth about a bazillion times and I managed to get maybe 100° of rotation out of it, at that point I filled it up with vinegar and let it sit for another 48 hours or so then I went back out there and worked at it again I managed to get the engine to turn over although it is still really stiff. I ended up taking a cylinder hone to all of the cylinders to knock off the scuze (carbon and rust) And I discovered pitting and a pretty big ridge but know that the engine turned over I got to measure its stroke and it too is a 4" stroke So that was another win...
So now I have two Ford flatheads One of them I think would probably be a good candidate for a real quickie rebuild, meaning new rings and bearings and probably a cylinder honing along with some fresh gaskets and it would be good to go The other engine realistically probably needs to be rebuilt and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it if I'm being honest with myself I will probably sell it because I don't have room for it but anyways that's neither here nor there and that's a story for another day. But this was my on topic project that I have been working on for the last 5 or 6 days for a few hours here and there every day. Hopefully no that my off topic car is finished And these Flatheads turn over I could now go back to working on my model A banger project.... I was really hoping to have it done by the beginning of summer but that didn't happen I consider memorial Day weekend the beginning of summer So maybe the end of summer and Labor Day weekend lol
Here Is my flathead projects the day I picked them up along with a lot of other cool vintage car debris and Here is The 1953 turning over.

  12. I used to hate rust repair Now I am getting kind of comfortable with it I don't really mind it now.
Your patches are looking really nice and all the body lines look like they are lining up pretty good.
Some of the patch panels I bought from my model A the fitment was atrocious especially the ones that repaired the cab corners on the pickup cab.
Edit I apologize I commented on something from 3 years ago...
I don't know what happened somehow I ended up back on page six I think. I might have fat fingers lol

Spent all day trying to fit a new aftermarket grille in my '39 Chevy coupe only to find it's a crap piece. So bad fitting I had to put my old grille back in, and this junk becomes wall art. 6 hrs. wasted I'll never get back.

Put the aerodynamic spears on backwards. I’ve done so many pleated examples and decided to not do any pleats on the sides.

  16. Had to pull the super T-10 out to replace the syncro's. Earlier this year, I replaced the rear seal and put the wrong gear oil in. (synthetic). Realizing my mistake, I dumped the oil and re-filled with non synthetic GL5. Then found the older trans needed GL4... :(. Too late, the damage was done. Cold, everything worked fine, but, as you went along, it got harder and harder to shift and the tranny got extra hot. Pulled the side cover and... sure enough... the syncro's were discolored. Waiting on the rebuild kit. Decided while I had the tranny out, I might as well pull the engine and get rid of that crappy, leaky, chrome oil pan that refuses to hold a gasket. I think a nice cast aluminum one will be in the works.

  17. Sorry to hear that. These parts are becoming a real problem, all the parts for automotive and trucks, maybe try to get your money back on the shit part.

How about a better shot of the fan mount?

Love the Harrison tank but it looks like it needs a little attention.

Also put a new date certified harness in the Henry J, between those two I've managed to re-agrivate my si joints in my lower back .... ugh

  21. Low impact back work was mocking up $50 bucks worth of new Henry J scoop sticker possibilities, I kind of like the first one to give a nod towards Hollywood Knights

This would be the one if it was a little longer, but it's kinda small on there

    20250526_171852.jpg

Same kinda thing with the beast

    20250526_171713.jpg

This one is just letters, no background so it might get lost

Whatever I don't use on the scoop might find it's way onto the new white open face helmet.

My Friend I find myself saying the very same thing lots of times anymore . I get so frustrated with Drs office and insurance companies . My damn time is just as valuable as the Drs time , be one time for the scheduled appointment . I explained to a lady last week my feelings about having to call the insurance company. I told her my feelings were : she is getting paid for hours of settling my claim correctly . I’m getting paid nothing , it’s wasting what valuable time I have on the life clock and if it was done correctly she would no longer have a job. She wasn’t happy with me at the end of the conversation .

No other pic, sorry. The fan is bolted to a stub that is driven by the large V-belt wheel under the blower. 20250501_162614.jpg

How many miles or hours did it take for the synthetic/and the GL5, take to damage your Super T-10? That sucks big time!
