Anyone out there know more about this beauty of a 289 powered MGB? No idea what magazine the article was in, but photo credit is Bob D'Olivo, June 13 '67. He did many Petersen magazine pics, wasn't in Hot Rod that I could find, maybe Sports Car Graphic? @bchctybob seems like something you may have had a hand in? Hey @Phillips
With all due respect to you and to any of us that has had the experience, of being the past owner of such rigs as MGB's and MGA"s, I think that you all will really appreciate this particular cool video of what this guy did to his MGB, and lets face it, it made it a lot better than it was ever going to be, if it was left as stock.

    Enjoy the video.
    Thanks from Dennis.

My kid brother built this 57 MGA in the mid 70's. Put a 215 aluminum Olds engine, 4 speed and narrowed the long side of the f85 rear. That little car would haul the mail!" Sorry for the crummy pics. 20200501_112742.jpg 20200501_112733.jpg 20200501_112619.jpg

In the early 7s'I had an MGB fitted with a 12A Rotary engine.

Dyno'd at 128HP at the wheels. Basically twice what a stock MG would produce and weighed 150lb less.

It ate axles and could get down to 4mpg when flogged.

@Phillips I have nothing to add. But I like it a lot. It has a vibe to it....

Doesn’t it? Nice subtle mods on the wheel openings and hood/front end. Some Doane Spencer’s Tiger feeling.

That MG seems a lot wider than it needs to be.

I did watch the video, but didn't turn the sound on. I'll check it again.

A buddy is building a 289 mga, with all the mods to make IMG_8352.jpeg IMG_8348.jpeg it appear like a cobra.

I had a 1959 M.G.A. when I was in the Army back in 72-75 at Fort Sill Oklahoma.

First and last time to own a British automobile.

Fun indeed when it was working, but it kept my wallet drained dry more often than not.
Still, when it did run, it was a blast to drive, miserable in the winter, and the firewall dictated that I could not wear flip flops in the summer time, for risk of overheating my right foot.

Great body styling though, it made a person feel like they had a poor mans 1950 Jaguar XK 120.

Your buddy must be a highly patient man, to tackle this project, but it appears that he is making good progress!
    Thanks from Dennis.

I had an MGA when I got drafted in 69. Whole time I had that car seemed like it needed constant attention.

Yep typical British sports car, really not for people that don’t like turning wrenches and tinkering, they are a tinkerers dream though.
